What Are Some Good Free Home Business Marketing Tools For Keyword Research?

Keyword research is going to be a huge part of any search engine optimization campaign and there are several free home business marketing tools available for this exact purpose. First, let me explain the importance of keyword research and then I will list the marketing tools available. Without understanding what you are doing, the tools won’t do much good.

Keyword research is the process of finding keywords to utilize in your keyword lists, titles, and body of your article. For example, keywords like “free home business marketing tools and “keyword research” would be good fits for this piece of content. If you look at those keywords and how they fit into the title and the body you will see it corresponds nicely.

Keywords are what drive ALL search engine optimization on the web. The Google and Yahoo crawlers go out and look at all of the content. They index content based on some random (not random, but random to me!) algorithm some programmers came up with saying that if the keyword ratio in the title and body of the content is blah blah blah it is relevant. While we don’t fully understand exactly what the algorithm is, we do know that keyword rich, unique content that is relevant to the title indexes well.

Picking your keywords is crucial. For example, the keyword “dogs” is highly competitive. You need to be more specific with your keywords. This is the difference between short-tailed (dogs) and long-tailed (training miniature schnauzers in Springfield, IL) keywords. Think of the competition between the two keywords on the entire web.

Another important factor is that people do search for it. If nobody in the world is searching for training miniature schnauzers in Springfield, IL then it’s going to be tough to get anyone to read your article. There is a balance there that you have to weight: searches vs. competition.

Some free resources to help you optimize your content with the free home business marketing tools below:

1. Google Keyword Tool – Google “Keyword Tool” and it’s the first option.

2. Wordtracker Keyword Tool – they have a paid and free service, the paid service is awesome! (google it)

3. SEO Book – also google this. I’ve never used it but apparently it’s good.

That is the essence of keyword research. You need to find keywords people are looking for but not as many people are supplying information for, and use those to index your content to the highest place it can possibly be! Keyword research, especially using the free home business marketing tools (they are less advanced) takes a bit of time to get the hang of… once you do though it pays dividends over and over again!

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Carol, Mary and David - thanks for your great input and insight on Affiliate Marketing! This is the kind of discussion I was hoping for in this thread. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
