Social networking is a big part of Web 2.0, and it has now become a big part of growing online businesses as well. When a business owner is looking for ways to make his or her business well known online, particularly to those who will be interested in buying product, social networking sites should be an integral part of that business. Facebook is a site that has enormous potential for marketing. While Facebook is a great social networking tool to keep in touch with friends and far-flung family members, the same networking ability that makes the site a great tool for bringing friends together also makes it a great site for bringing customers to a business.

Most companies are now setting up Facebook pages to get their name out there. For larger companies, their pages are a way of generating customer loyalty. Companies offer a range of incentives to people who add the company's page to their friend list. Adding a company as a friend may also have even bigger implications for customers and businesses.

Business Communication and Social Networking

The sites MySpace and Facebook both have the power to give customers a direct line to communicate with a business. Even if the business is very large, customers can feel as if they have a voice with that company. They can leave messages if they are displeased or they can leave compliments behind if they wish.

Having a direct line of communication with a company can give customers confidence in that company. It can prompt them to keep doing business with that company because they feel a closer connection with it. They may also have the confidence to buy from the business because they can talk with someone if anything should go wrong.

Marketing Messages Through Social Networking

One of the most useful aspects of using social networking sites is that marketing messages can be sent en masse at any time. Posting a message on a site like Facebook means that those who are interested in business will see it.

Posting a message through Twitter means that all of the people who get the message will get it immediately. Some businesses have hundreds of thousands of followers. With this type of audience, it is easy to notify members of a store sale or to tell them about an up-coming event.

With Twitter, followers may also resend the messages, called retweeting, to other people. So, it isn't just the business' followers that will get the message. The number of people who can receive it is completely unlimited. Getting a marketing message to this many people is rarely this easy, and the fact that it's all free makes it perfect to help grow a small business.

See one below: This Social Network has changed my life! Every night is a Friday night and everyday is a Saturday!! Because of it, I have been able to leave the workforce 10 years early.It has given me back my life. Many of us would like to retire early. I am sure there are many more. The point is of focusing with great determination. The ongoing challenge is to stay focussed and not be sidetracked into a newer scheme or so. Also I have read, during this financial turmoil, more people turn to Social Networking for various reasons.

This is a quote from a 2009 Topic "Twitter, Social Networking, What is your Method? From my experience, social networking traffic (Twitter included) also converts at a far lower rate than search engine traffic. Evan Is this still true, or do you use something that gives us better returns and conversions
