Self Employed Opportunities for Retirees

If you're retired and relying on your pension or retirement savings to support your lifestyle then most likely you've taken a major hit over the last 2 years with the global crisis and financial meltdown severely affecting the savings of most retirees. So are there any self employed opportunities for retirees out there? Many soon-to-be retirees have also delayed their retirement because their golden nest egg is no longer as big as it used to be. To make matters worse interest rates across the globe are at their lowest in decades which does not help the situation.

As a financial adviser I have been at the coalface experiencing this situation with many retired or soon-to-be retired clients. It comes as no surprise that many retirees have been forced back in to the workforce to supplement their income. Many of them take up casual or part-time work in jobs paying minimal income and some even going back to their main career or taking on study courses to improve their chances.

But the most popular area where retirees are looking for income is on the internet. It seems the internet offers not only working people but also retirees the opportunity to earn a decent part time income and in many cases a substantial 6 figure income. There are many examples of this happening on the internet. Through my own online business I met a 75 y.o. grandmother who knew nothing about computers, let alone the internet, and in the space of 2 years is earning a substantial monthly income that many board room executives would be envious of.

The fact is there are plenty of self employed opportunities for retirees available on the internet and what better way is there to earn additional income than having a home based business? The beauty about running an online business is that you can do it from anywhere. Want to go away for your annual holiday to escape the winter? No problems. You can take your business with you and continue to earn income even while on holidays.

I'm not talking about working 9-5 either when you are on holidays. Most of the better online business opportunities have completely automated marketing systems which generate leads and income for you 24/7.

We cannot do much about the global crisis but if you are retired or planning to retire soon and need to boost your income then you owe it to yourself to look into the many self employed opportunities for retirees available on the internet.

Young Entrepreneur Young Entrepreneur - I'm fifteen and last year, when I was fourteen I owned a motor sports marketing company. So yes, I do feel last year I was a "Young CEO." This year I'm getting more involved in investing. I assume I am now a "young investor." And for everyone's reference, there are four types of people in this world: 1.)The Employed 2.) The Self Employed 3.) Business Owners 4.) Investors The difference between the self employed and business owners is that business owners can leave their company for one year and come back and find that it is more profitable than when he/she left. A self employed person is like a Doctor or Dentist.

enRoute ads - 10 days with my new salesmen enRoute ads - 10 days with my new salesmen - Hi Guys, As some of you may know I hired a sales person for my business. I picked him amongst 50+ interviews, so I did do my due diligence. For any of you who have had experience with outbound sales reps in your company could you please shed some light on these statistics and let me know what you think: Days Employed: 11 Calls Made: 200 Average length of call: 3 minutes Sales: 0 Closing Rate: 0 Previous closing rate at Astral Media: 5% He is selling billboards instead of radio, for an unestablished company vs. an established one There seems to be large gaps in calling made in his daily log, on average he is making 20 calls a day. I am going to try to increase this by providing him with calling lists versus him creating his own. (I will keep you posted on this). I am just wondering, in your experience, what kind of regiment do you have your cold callers work on, 6 hours? 4 hours? 7 hours? And did you notice a curve occur with closing rates as time progressed and experience increased? If so when did you notice this begin to occur, I have him on a 1,500.00 NON-RECOVERABLE sales draw salary which ends in 6 weeks (approx).
