Marketing An Online Business: Are You Willing To Learn New Skills?

If you are considering starting an online business, are you ready to learn new skills? I run into people all the time who answer yes to that. Even seasoned business owners enthusiastically say that they are ready to learn new skills, and that they are willing to do what it takes to make their new venture succeed.

When questioned, they often report that working on the Internet will be similar to operating their old brick-and-mortar businesses, or that they will only have to push a few buttons. It will be easy as sending an email.

The reality is that it is really not easy, and there are marketing skills which need to be learned. These are perhaps things which can not even be imagined before actually starting out. One certainty is that no one is born knowing how to operate and market a business online. Marketing training will be required.

So, think about how you have approached new things your whole life. Were you a quick study in school? Are you still a quick study? Or did it take you a lot of effort to learn new things. Do you have something which holds you back, like a form of dyslexia?

I have worked with people of all aptitudes. Those who have the drive and discipline do whatever it takes for them to learn these new skills.

So, be prepared to learn how to market your new business online. Consider if you are really ready and willing to learn new skills. Are you willing to go back to school? How did you think about it when you were in school? Couldn't wait to get out? Or were you excited to learn the next new subject?

One needs to have an openness to learning when doing business online, because things change quite quickly. Often marketing techniques become obsolete a short time after they are implemented, and you will need to modify them to adapt to new conditions.

Things change constantly on the Internet. It's really a wild and wonderful place. Be prepared to learn how to market effectively.

if you're not prepared to learn, or if you have always hated to learn things, just save yourself and your sponsor a headache and don't do it, okay?

Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.

Moreover, it would probably be called "Online Marketing" instead of Social Media Marketing".[/quote:p78047w2] Okay - I have a request -- can the title be changed to "Online Marketing"? The reason I'm asking is because people may not know what social media marketing is , while that would make me vote for it to learn more, but not every thinks like that. Also, online marketing could capture more attention when people spot in on the list. Shri
