This wonderful book really hit home for me. Feel the fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D.. After all, what is it that weˇ¦re really afraid of?
„« speaking in front of an audience
„« I donˇ¦t have what it takes to be successful;
„« being alone
„« rejection;
„« losing someone we love;
„« breaking off a relationship;
„« making the wrong decision;
The question isˇKdoes our fear cause us to not take that most important step which would resolve our problem and ultimately end our fear or does it paralyze us into doing nothing? If we do nothing, what happens? Well, the fear simply grows larger and larger until it becomes that ominous elephant in the room we keep trying to ignore. The problem with this approach is your life never changes.
Are you an entrepreneur or sales professional who wants to make a lot of money and become a millionaire and need help with Internet marketing? Are you looking to build a home based online business? I know that has been my goal and my fear was that I didnˇ¦t have the right tools or skills to be successful. I was not a sales professional but knew that sales is the highest paid field in the world so I had to learn how to do it well. I did not have an Internet and technology background either so was feeling quite fearful. I just knew that I wanted to take control of my future and building an online home based business was the best way to make money. That is where this book came in handy.
Dr. Susan Jeffers pointed out that the ˇ§bottom of every one of your fears is simply the fear that you canˇ¦t handle whatever life may bring youˇKbut the truth is that if you knew you could handle anything that came your way, what would you possibly have to fear and the answer is NOTHING!ˇ¨ While this may not be revolutionary the key point is that you simply need to work on trusting yourself. Your work is to focus on minimizing your fear of yourself and your lack of inner faith in your own abilities. So, whenever you start to feel fearful just remind yourself that you need to develop the tools and action plans so that you can grow and develop the knowledge and skills you need to be able to handle it. Develop the plan and work the planˇKand surprisingly your fear will start to disappear.
The only way to eliminate the fear is to take an action in the direction of whatever you are afraid of. I know this sounds contradictory but only by taking the action and doing it will the fear ever go away. I realized that I needed to develop a strategic plan and work the plan no matter how fearful I became. I knew that I had to find the best company for me that would provide me with professional mentors and ongoing training tools. I needed to have coaches just like in sports so that I could stay focused and on track towards my goals. At first, I must admit I was terrified that I was making all of the wrong choicesˇKwrong companyˇKwrong productsˇK.spending money in different directions, but an ironic thing happened. In spite of all of my fear during the process I found that by following my instincts I had chosen very well and have become more excited about my business and watching it grow than when I first started. The fear is always there as I try new things but my confidence keeps growing as I enjoy the successes. I never would have thought that I could have come so far and I am so grateful that I felt the fear, but did it anyway.
