Network Marketing -- The Best Way to Make Sales

I remember being told by my upline in a number of network marketing businesses I started to make a list of my friends and family. After all, they are friends and family and they'll listen to me. So I did. I did opportunity meetings and I did product meetings. I enrolled some people and sold some products. And then my warm market was done and so was I.
Every opportunity I enrolled in I did the same, and after a short period of time, I was done.
Let's face it folks, this is not the way to sell products or sell a business opportunity. How many times have you had to deal with a very excited friend or in-law that you had to humor long enough to say no. Or were you chicken and signed up just to get them to go away?
If you want to enlist your friends or family either with the products or the opportunity the way to do it is to simply build your business the way any real business is built. Real businesses are built by providing products and services people want. And when you have 50 customers and 10 distributors you may not have to ask your friends and relatives to sign up, they'll ask you.
The only problem is you have to get the customers and the distributors first. And the way to do that is to learn how to market -- not sell. There is a huge difference.
Many will tell you that all you have to do to sell is to create a desire for the product and then convince your customer that it will be for his best good. But when you market something, the person already has a need for your product and all you have to do is show your customer how your product will solve the problem that they have.
For instance, let's say someone needs a piano for their youngster who is just beginning. The problem is they can't afford a new piano worth $10,000 -- they only have $2,000. The salesman spends an hour showing them how a $10,000 piano plays wonderfully. It has beautiful touch and exquisite sound and he convinces them that's what they must have. The result is they end up walking out of the store and no sale is made.
A marketer on the other hand would find out at the beginning that the child is just beginning and that they have only $2,000 to spend. Immediately he goes to the used pianos, finds the best piano available for $2,000 and recommends that they purchase this piano and when they have the money they can upgrade to a better piano. The marketer makes a sale and the family is very happy.
So whatever you are selling learn the obvious. More sales are made by marketing than selling and that's just as true in network marketing as it is in any other business. Find customers with a need for your product and show him how it will help him -- then you make an easy sale.

From the age of 5 I have been involved in music, but as many musicians know it's hard to make a living in music unless you are extremely good. So I trained to teach music and hated the school room experience. Since then I have had a successful Dairy Queen franchaise, piano store and music school.  Over the last three years I have become quite involved on the internet and have found a great niche working with a team of internet specialists that understand how to help people become successful on the internet.

Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional - Hi Evan, I am noticing that many of the posts in the Sales/Marketing section deal with online marketing, SEM and and SEO and Affiliates. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to separate that section into two; 1) Online Sales and Marketing; 2) Traditional Sales and Marketing

Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? - I've been looking at a number of different opportunities and end up meeting a lot of Network Marketing / Multi-Level Marketing people. Some of the offers look interesting but everyone I talk to about it says to avoid these guys like the plague - what's the deal? Why do people hate network marketers and MLM people so much? Is it not legit?
Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. - I have experience with MLM too. My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.
Do what i did Do what i did - I had the same dilemma. My solution? I started my own marketing firm! No, in all reality, even if you have a degree in Marketing, you will have to take crappy entry-level jobs to get your foot in the door. Make the most of them by taking on extra tasks that will give you skills that will improve your resume. It's a slow process, but if you can get just one job in Marketing, you're on your way!
