How to Know Which Top Home Business is Best - 5 Golden Rules You Must Use

Wow, I'm still in shock! Over 3 weeks ago I began an exercise where I posed as a new business opportunity seeker searching for a top home business. Gee, I didn't expect what I got. In fact it's chaos out there. OK, I'll be open, I'm a perfectionist and am obsessive with detail so I probably went to greater lengths than many people would. But one of my main reasons for doing the exercise was to determine what someone entering the network marketing business opportunity arena is exposed to and how they should go about deciding which top home business to pursue. This would also allow me to be more informed when speaking to my prospects.

I was stunned at the number of network marketing business opportunities being marketed. Starting from nutritional supplements (by the millions), home décor, gourmet foods, jewelry through to education, technology and travel.

Furthermore, I was overcome at the number of "sketchy" schemes out there. It's turmoil - where have I been hiding? Safely in my own business environment it seems. It's understandable why business opportunity seekers don't know which way to turn... How can you not sympathize with them?

With the current economic times there is a considerable surge in the number of individuals looking to enroll with a network marketing business opportunity. And good for them, it's without reservation the most gratifying industry there is (from a lifestyle and financial standpoint). Unfortunately however, very few people undertake a detailed due diligence before joining a business, and if they don't succeed as expected, blame the network marketing industry.

One thing that became obvious during my "new kid on the block" due diligence exercise is just how vital this step is in strengthening your success in your business. If you gain nothing else from this article, gain this single point. You will be pleased you put yourself in a well-informed position before making the decision to join a top home business.

During my network marketing career, I've learnt some worthy lessons from many successful and admired network marketers, as well as from my own personal experiences. These lessons provided the foundation for my success today. I list some them below and I encourage all business opportunity seekers as well as current network marketers to take into account the following imperative questions in your efforts to discovering the top home business.

5 GOLDEN RULES TO REVEALING THE TOP HOME BUSINESS FOR YOU

1. Core value fit - does the company's values marry your core values and beliefs?

2.
Leader and culture fit - does the culture of the business inspire you to achieve excellence? Does the leadership of the team you partner with assist you in realizing your FULL potential? You must choose a leader you feel very comfortable working with - they will be your mentor and business partner for life.

3. Large market, minimal competition - the ultimate is to engage in a large target market with little competition, if any. In my view the network marketing business opportunities in lotions, potions and nutritional supplements are over marketed. Be astute when selecting which "game" to play in.

4. Passion influences results - ask yourself this question, "Would I buy these products or services even if I was not involved in the business opportunity?" Your answer should steer your decision about that network marketing business opportunity.

5. Active leadership speaks volumes - do the company's leaders participate or do they watch from their glass towers? Be cautious of this, behind every lucrative company is active leadership.

The network marketing industry is the only industry in the world that provides people from all backgrounds an equal playing field for achieving success. No matter what success may mean to you (financial independence, quality family time, improved self confidence, time freedom), the appropriate network marketing business opportunity can afford you the platform to realize your goals. Don't let anything or anyone rob you of your dreams. Follow the rules above, extend your wings and aim for the stars - they're absolutely available to be claimed!

There must be a lot of moms out there who want to start businesses. I'm currently reading How She Does It: How Women Entrepreneurs are Changing the Rules of Business Success, by Margaret Heffernan. Some interesting statistics: Between 1997 and 2006, privately held businesses owned by women grew at 3 times the rate of all American privately owned firms, women's companies are creating jobs and growing profits at twice the rate of all firms and are responsible for more payroll than all of the Fortune 500 companies combined. This book tells the stories of a few women who have made it big...recommended reading so you know that "you can do it, too."
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need.
