Article Overview: SEO is not an overnight, plug and play configuration that it once was. It is a process requiring effort and skill and much like any other worthwhile business objective it requires an investment of time, energy and resource. I like to call this "Guaranteed SEO" because if applied correctly it is a science and can be guaranteed.

Benjamin Franklin once said...

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."

The practice of professional Website Search Engine Optimization is precisely the same.

Guaranteed SEO isn't just a technical technique to get your website on the front page of Google for a particular keyword or key phrase.

If your business approaches it from that angle you might never see the importance of Internet search engine optimization or achieve anything close to organic targeted web traffic.

Think of proactively marketing your site as creating small pieces of dust floating around on the internet eventually connecting directly to your business or brand.

If you connect all those little pieces of dust they all trickle down to your site creating many little pathways to your site, the bigger the network of dust the more opportunity for really becoming visible online in front of your customer base. This network takes some time to build but once it is built, a website can see a nice steady stream of traffic and if done correctly, it will be super qualified targeted website traffic.

This approach shouldn't be seen as just something technical to manipulate search results but rather a long term internet marketing promotion plan with the objective of rankings as a byproduct, but not the only byproduct. Perhaps this misunderstanding is a hangover from the "meta tag" stuffing days of the late nineties and early 2000's when this practice could rank a porn site on the front page of Google for the keyword "Smithsonian". Nowadays a whole more effort and skill is required for SEO, it is far more a profession than before.

As with most things in this world if you have a way of prioritizing what to do and when, instead of trial and error then you optimize your energies and reap the returns quicker.

SEO will always take time to really pickup up and work correctly, so it is important to realize that it is a long term strategic investment of time and money not dissimilar from many other marketing or business investments.

Investment in your online business or website is very important. Equally as important to an offline "bricks and mortar" business investment. It will deliver returns if its done correctly and not just in the form of search engine rankings which many think is the way to gauge if your online marketing campaign is actually working.

Real rewards come from bloggers bloggin about your business and products or perhaps potential customers reaching out to you via social media for example. This will bring a huge

increase in your website activity and does not happen by accident, it will be as a direct result of your SEO efforts and the time for these rankings to of been 'awarded' from the search engines. It is critically important to understand that search engine optimization is a long term approach that does require some patience and ability to think outside the box.

When creating an advertisement, always remind yourself that it should: (1) capture your prospects' Attention, (2) arouse their Interest in your offer, (3) create their Desire for your product or service, and (4) provide a powerful spur to Action, that is, turn your prospect into buyers. Remember, bad advertising is an unproductive expense, and good advertising is an investment in future profits!
Go for both! - That's life Julie as a business owner. You never have enough resources. Invest the money in your patent if you really have something worth protecting and bootstrap your marketing efforts so that you get some clients and continue to grow.
Re: When does a trend become a legitimate business opportunity? - Moreover, I recall the time when bubble tea was the next big thing in Toronto... and then the market became flooded with new shops, only for the trend to die off and result in many failed small businesses. "Interest" and "confidence" are not enough to help a business stay above water.
