Smart Objectives for Success - 10 Rules to Achieve Every Smart Goal

Question a thriving entrepreneur as to what the single most important thing to succeed is and they will tell you, it's setting smart objectives and taking daily action. It's vital to have a strategy in place to move us from our current circumstances to our desired circumstances. You've heard it before, failing to plan is unfortunately planning to fail. We all have more capacity than we believe we do. What's vital is your burning desire to achieve your objectives (an important leadership trait), not what your objectives are. Whether your smart goal is financial, personal or business, following these 10 steps will magnify your success.

10 EFFECTIVE TIPS TO SMART OBJECTIVES

1. Personal Ambitions

Honor yourself first by making sure the smart objectives you set are goals YOU want to attain personally, not those expected of you by others. An important leadership trait is a high level of independence.

2. Rename Goals to Promises

Many people have a negative relationship with goals. Harvard University research indicates that the average person misses their goals 70% of the time; however 98% of people deliver upon their promises. Change your subconscious mind to focus on promises and see a transformation in your results.

3. Clear Definitive Promises

Have defined, clear promises so you know what you are shooting for, how to measure improvement and know when you have obtained it. An ambiguous promise presents vague results.

4. Implement External Tools

Every leader needs positive motivators (people in your life that you want to do things for) as well as negative motivators (achieving something to show someone you can). Both motivators force you to push further.

5. Form a Promise Plan

As businesses exercise business plans to plot their success, people need life plans to outline their success. Define:

• What your promise is

• By when you want to achieve it

• Where you will be when you achieve it

• Why you want to achieve it

• Who you need to assist you in achieving it

• How you wish to achieve it. This may not be clear in the beginning but will develop as you advance towards your smart objectives.

6. Assess Your Smart Objectives Frequently

Successful people reflect with absolute passion on their promises as least 20 minutes a day. This initiates the conscious mind to contemplate new ideas and programs your subconscious mind to create new habits and expectations to deliver upon.

7. Positive Affirmations

Constantly inform yourself you will achieve. Be aware of your chosen words as these will influence how you think and act and therefore your results. Your inner voice is tremendously powerful, so pay attention to it.

8. Disclose Your Smart Goals

One of the leadership traits that separates the masses is the willingness to notify others about your promises. This heightens the risk and thus your level of responsibility towards achieving them. Furthermore, it assists in articulating your promise as it becomes clearer with each expression you make.

9. Imagine Your Smart Goals

See the outcome as if you are currently experiencing it. Seeing it, feeling it and believing it comes before achieving it.

10. Undertake Action

We are the basis of whether we either succeed or fail. Avoiding action you have no chance of advancing and achieving your promises. Action is the mark of an effective leader. Why wait another moment?

Adopting these smart goal setting tips will position you closer to living your promises. Successful entrepreneurs absorb their promises into their daily activities, resulting in dependable reminders. By taking action every day you are developing the foundation for your success - one brick at a time.

Re: Drop out Billionaire Re: Drop out Billionaire - I reveived Bill Bartmann's DVD "9 Steps To Achieve Any Goal" as part of my monthly pack from Success University a few months back. It is a great presentation. I've watched it several times but not for a while so I'll view it again in the coming week. He is one of the greats. Like the best success mentors, he speaks with authority because he has come through much tribulation. His program sounds like a great bargain at $100 a year.

Re: 365 Foolish Mistakes Smart Managers Make Re: 365 Foolish Mistakes Smart Managers Make - [quote="litekepr":2v18lglp]This morning's Google Alert held a pleasant surprise. WORTH MENTIONING A List of New Books Compiled by The Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC) Chinn Park Regional Library 703-792-4880Summer 2007 Indicates titles relating to the FISH Philosophy 365 Foolish Mistakes Smart Managers Make Every Day: How and Why to Avoid Them by Shri L. Henkel, 2006 interesting. Is anyone else here familiar with the FISH philosphy? i[/quote:2v18lglp] Congrats on the mention of your book! Hopefully it will drive up sales! For myself, I don't really care for their acronym... MAGIC. Gives people the subtle impression that good things happen at the snap of a finger instead of lots of hard work!
How She Does It How She Does It - Interesting to see what are the most popular threads in this folder, judging by how many hits each thread gets. There must be a lot of moms out there who want to start businesses. I'm currently reading How She Does It: How Women Entrepreneurs are Changing the Rules of Business Success, by Margaret Heffernan. Some interesting statistics: Between 1997 and 2006, privately held businesses owned by women grew at 3 times the rate of all American privately owned firms, women's companies are creating jobs and growing profits at twice the rate of all firms and are responsible for more payroll than all of the Fortune 500 companies combined. This book tells the stories of a few women who have made it big...recommended reading so you know that "you can do it, too."
