Solid Traffic Tips That Work for IM Marketers

Guest post by: Daniel Waser

Article Overview: Maybe it has slipped your attention, but the most often used approach to making money on the web is to have a website. Then… you have to 'help' people find your fabulous website. So the term you always see for your site's visitors is 'traffic.' And again, the more traffic your site gets, the more chances you have to convert some of that traffic to sales. Just like applying for a job, you want to make as much as possible - so that is the point to it all. Next on the agenda… talk about getting more traffic to your site - the rest is up to you.

Solid Traffic Tips That Work for IM Marketers

Unfortunately, working to send quality traffic to a site/blog is something every IM marketer needs to do. Obviously, traffic doesn't generate itself, and having a site isn't enough. More than that, you need to give people a reason to visit your website. Generating traffic doesn't have to be hard, but it does take some knowledge, time, and some work. If you're really serious about your business, you'll set aside some time each day to work on building traffic.

If your site and content are worthy enough, in time people may start talking about it, and you'll get some word of mouth advertising for your site. In the meantime, however, here are some things you can do to start bringing in visitors. If you start leaving comments on blogs, you can get more traffic to your site. This can, however, be tricky. You don't want to simply leave a 'great blog!' comment. People who do this are considered spammers.

If you don't want your posts to be deleted, you have to make relevant comments that respond to what others have written. You have to show the blog owner that you are really reading his blog and not just there to leave a link. It will also give the blog author a reason to visit your site as well. If you are a valued participant, there is also the chance that the blog owner will give you a place in his blogroll!

You can use pay-per-click advertising to get traffic.

Start out with a small budget so you don't spend too much. PPC campaigns can bring you lots of traffic if you set them up with the right key words and write good ads.

Google Adwords is the best known pay per click service If you know what you're doing, you can get huge amounts of traffic with Adwords and similar services. When you write your ads, keep in mind that the only way you will get visitors is if people actually click on them!

Find some newsletters in your niche area. Try to build a relationship, and then request if you can contribute some articles to their ezines. Offer to forego payment for the article in exchange for a couple of links to your websites. You'll have greater success if your content is presented well and provides good value to their readers. Try it, you just may end with something unexpected, and good.

It can be challenging to choose which techniques of traffic generation to use, as there are so many. If you confine yourself to using one single method to build traffic on any given day, you'll get the best results. Work at each method for a few months and, if it isn't working, move on to another method.

The trick is to find something that does work and then put more effort into that so you can build your traffic even more. You always want to attract as many visitors to your website as you can. After all, the more traffic you get, the more sales!

Re: What are your May Goals? Re: What are your May Goals? - Thanks Evan! I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!
