Can You Build Your Network Marketing Business Sending Out Spam Email?
|
| Guest post by: Andy Acciaioli |
Article Overview: Are you tempted to send out unsolicited email (spam) to everyone you have an email address for? You may feel as though you are doing them a favor by sharing your network marketing opportunity through email messaging. Resist the temptation. Not only will you not get the desired results but you will be thought of negatively as a spammer.

Can You Build Your Network Marketing Business Sending Out Spam Email?
Before I answer that, let me ask you a question. How do you feel when you get spam email sent
to you?
If you are like practically all of us, you simply delete unsolicited
email. I hit the spam button to send
this email into oblivion at the slightest smell of it being sent to me by
someone I do not recognize.
Every day I receive email with such catchy subject lines as “check this
out”, “you could be earning in a day what you now earn in a month”, “wouldn’t
you love working on the beach”… First
off, who are you to tell me what to check out?
Secondly, how do you know how much money I make in a month? And that thing about working on a beach: I’ve
never been a beach person.
I recently wanted to prove my point about emailing to people I did not
know as a form of informal research for this article. I selected 272 connections from my 10,000+
LinkedIn connections. Each email
recipient I really did not know beyond accepting their connection request.
My subject line was sure to piqué the curiosity of most and my email
message was brief. The goal of the
message was to get them to a special lead capture page where their email
address (which I obviously already had) would be captured.
143 unique visitors came to this special lead capture page as a result
of this email. Only 1 actually submitted
an email address to gain instant access to a free online marketing video. And, after watching the video, this
individual failed to take it to the next step by requesting more information in
the form of my contacting him.
Had I not done this to prove that unsolicited email does not work, it
would have been speculative on my part.
But the facts are the facts: 272 emails sent, 1 lead email captured and
0 prospects.
You might dismiss what I am writing that unsolicited email to people
you don’t know, doesn’t work. But
unsolicited email to people I do know (or I have exchanged online messages
with) will work. I doubt it. As a matter of fact, when I receive an email
pitching me on a network marketing or business opportunity by someone I have
chatted with online, I resent it.
Feeling as though he/she struck up an online friendship strictly because
it was good for business…his/her business.
If during your message exchanges they seem genuinely interested in what
you are doing, by all means send them a link for more information. Be sure they ask you for the link as your
business will be positively perceived by them.
Do you see the difference? They
ASK you for information rather than you THRUSTING spam at them which they
neither asked for nor will they ever read.
