Do You Blog For Love? Leads? Money? Or All Three?

Recently I have had an insatiable appetite to visit blogs: all types, any subject, any stage of development.

Almost everyone involved with network marketing is encouraged to build their own brand – YOU, INC. Those within our industry are encouraged to write blog posts on topics dealing with related topics. For example: prospecting, sponsoring, team leadership, etc.

Anyone who has been involved with the business opportunity market for any length of time could bang out a network marketing posting in a snap. And, speaking from experience, these posts are spot on.

For anyone new to the business it becomes a tad more difficult. They cannot write as an authority given the fact that they may have joined an opportunity only a day or two ago. What they can do is research certain topics online and rewrite what they have researched. For example, Google “online lead generation” and read what others are saying about this topic, making notes along the way. After three or four articles are read, they can now write their own blog post based on this information.

If you are seeking to build your blog as a system to provide network marketing leads your best bet is not to pitch any lead generating company in your blog. It would be fine to run banner ads in the widget sidebar area as the blog visitor realizes that they are not part of the blog’s content. Leads will come your way as you are positioned more and more as an expert in your particular field. They will be drawn to you magnetically by the fresh content of your blog posts.

How can you make money with your blog?

Here are 3 ways to make money with your blog:

1. Promote your network marketing company in the form of a banner positioned on the sidebar.

2. Participate in a CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) program: this is when you run a banner ad and your visitor must click on it. They are usually brought to a landing page which requires more information from them usually their email address. Once they do this, you can make anywhere from $1 to $10 depending upon how much information the CPA program requires. A friend of mine runs a blog focused on locating the best retail deals and earns in the six figures. Obviously this requires a ton of CPA submissions but she gets a TON of daily visitors to her blog so the CPA way to generate money from blogging works for her.

3. Join a network of bloggers. Not only will you be able to achieve higher search engine rankings because there is a ridiculous amount of fresh content being uploaded daily by all of the bloggers but usually there is a substantial compensation program attached to it where you can earn a tremendous amount of money. The nice part about joining a blogger network is your ability to promote and get leads for your network marketing business in the form of banner ads in the widget area (usually the right side menu bar).

Remember in network marketing, your blog posts are to build your personal brand, the “YOU INC.” factor. Research and write about those topics within our industry that you are interested in. You will be positioned as someone who knows what you are writing about, an expert, and thereby draw prospects to you…rather than the traditional way of chasing or harassing prospects to join your opportunity.

Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - I wanted to share more on the topic of Blogging and creating your own original content that you enjoy writing about. Here's a real example. My wife started her own little Web site a few years ago. It's a very simple, home made Web site she built all on her own. She had sort of a hobby of going into Dollar stores, purchasing a few inexpensive items for a buck or two. Then she would create something completely new (usually home decor) out of what she bought (often with the same value of creating something that was worth up to $15 or $20) if you bought it in other stores, but only using material she bought at a dollar store. So on this little Web site, she starts writing about her creations and take pictures of them etc. A few years ago, someone from an AOL Money and Finance Blog (called Wallet Pop) invited her to Blog for AOL. Today, she write for both the US AOL Blog and the Canadian AOL Blog as well as she continues with her hobby and keeping up her own Web site. The other Bloggers at AOL have nick-named her, "The Dollar Store Diva" and she often writes about budget decorating. What amazes me is that with no SEO and just her original content, she attracts huge volumes of traffic. She has done radio shows in Toronto (and nearly went to the US to do breakfast television) and most people would be so amazed to see the traffic spike she gets from Blogging. But once again, she is just writing about the stuff she loves to write about. She is having fun with creativity and she now has a huge following of readers and subscribers.Others are decorating their homes with her ideas and their doing it with next to no budget. If someone is creating a Web site or a Blog, the best thing you can do is try something original on your own, but make it something that you love to write about.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
Re: Alexa Ranking Goals Re: Alexa Ranking Goals - That's great GT! What method did you use to put up the Entrepreneur Blog Network in your Wordpress Blog? We're always looking for the easiest methods to help bloggers who are not techies get involved.
EvanCarmichael.com suggestion EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.
