Network Marketing Game: The One With The Most Reps Wins.
|
| Guest post by: Andy Acciaioli |
Article Overview: Oftentimes we network marketers are encouraged to sponsor more and more representatives into our business regardless of whether we feel our business is a good fit for them or not. Rather than participate in this madcap sponsoring game, you are far better off to be selective and find individuals who best fit into your business.

Network Marketing Game: The One With The Most Reps Wins.
Are you being urged to sponsor as many reps into your network marketing business as you possibly can? Have you been told that the network marketer with the most reps on their team wins?
I have always taken a different approach to adding team members to my group: preferring quality over quantity. Sort of interviewing prospects to see if there was a fit or not. Why try to squeeze into a size 9 shoe when you know you are a 10? Same thing applies to trying to make someone fit that you know is the wrong fit for your business right from the outset.
With the advent of online sponsoring, comes a lot of ill-fitting network marketing business relationships.
It is difficult to assess a new prospect when separated by a continent or two not to mention language variations.
Some networkers have resorted to a pre-application that has to be completed by a prospect before they are allowed to join the business. While I applaud the attempt, it still falls short of determining whether that prospect is going to be a good fit or not.
Other networkers are throwing caution to the wind and seeking to accept everyone who has a pulse into their group. Those new representatives that can swim (succeed) fine, those that sink (fail), well, that's fine too. You probably will receive a fast start bonus for each new recruit whether they succeed or fail so, apparently, you are ahead of the game.
Putting aside the moral issues of knowingly signing up a person who has shown you signs of being incapable of succeeding in network marketing, you should not sign that person up for another reason.
He or she will be a tremendous time drain on you once they get into your group. This siphoning off of your time will far exceed any financial benefit you may have received from any fast start bonus.
Network marketing is a numbers game. You will talk to a huge number of people, quite a few of them could be classified as slugs, before you find your diamond. If you spend your time trying to turn the slugs into diamonds you are wasting both your and their time.
Rather than accepting the statement that the network marketer with the most reps wins, refine it to read the network marketer with the most diamond representatives winds. Remember, diamonds are a girl's (and guy's) best friends.
