No Medicine Cures Negativity Once It Starts Festering In Your Network Marketing Business.
I once personally sponsored a real team builder. He was a non-stop sponsoring machine. And, more importantly, he took the time to be
sure his personally sponsored team members were fully trained before he cut the
umbilical cord.
Attending one of the conventions for our company, I noticed a change in
him toward some of his group. As a
matter of fact, I urged him to have a couple of them attend our team’s private
gathering and his response to me was “Nah.
We don’t want them there. They’re
zeroes.” (I get the analogy: heroes and
zeros. Heard it many times before.) When I asked him why they were zeroes he said
it was because they were non-producers and he went as far as to say he wished
they were out of his group.
He got his wish a month or so later when both of these reps quit and
brought their groups – small as they may have been – with them.
I contacted these reps myself and they said due to the cavalier
attitude of their sponsor as well as feeling like second-class citizens by not
being invited to our team gathering (at the convention) they no longer wanted
to be a part of “his” team.
If any network marketing rep has a problem, I always encourage them to “throw
up” rather than “throw down”. Meaning,
if you feel negative over anything – ANYTHING – let your sponsor know. If your sponsor is unresponsive, go further
upline until you get an answer or results.
When you start to talk about your negative feelings toward the company
to your downline, they start to think negatively about the company as well. After a while all of your conversations will
turn into gripe sessions as you and your downline start to become more and more
infected with this highly contagious negativity. A negativity that not even a mega dose of
positivity can cure.
If you want to have a thriving network marketing business, instill in
each team member, regardless of their distance from your position, that if they
are not getting answers to their questions, you will always be available to
them. Most people will not abuse jumping
the sponsoring chain to reach you so do not think you will be getting a tsunami
of calls. However, all will be comforted
to know that you care enough about them to offer an alternative to an
unresponsive sponsor.
e lesson I learned is that I should have circumvented my personally
sponsored rep and invited those two guys to attend the gathering. Who knows, those “zeroes” could have turned
into “heroes”.
