Only Coffee Ice Cream Available.
Those of us involved with network marketing have probably fallen madly in love with our network marketing company and our products or services. We would not even consider using any other similar products or services even though they might be less expensive or - please don't get upset - of a better quality. Period. End of story.
Can we all take a collective time out?
Let us make a generalization: since there are 4,800+ network marketing companies currently in existence, we assume that they are all the best...at least in the eyes of their representatives or distributors. Is one company better than another? Yes, of course, mine is. And, I am quite sure yours is to you or you would not still be a participating member.
Why do we accept diversity within our American culture yet we cannot accept diversity when it comes to other network marketing businesses? How about instead of there being a gazillion flavors of ice cream there was only one: coffee (because that happens to be my favorite)? Can you imagine how boring it would be if there were only one network marketing company that all of us had to belong to or find another career?
It is this fanatical way of network marketing thinking that translates into a number of us behaving like zealots. Pouncing on a potential prospect does not only occur at your local mall, it happens online as well in the form of email and social network messaging.
Do any of us really care to get positioned in the beta testing of a pre-launched network marketing company? Is it really newsworthy enough to blast an email out to everyone on your email list about your latest business opportunity: Aunt Gladys' miracle peach drink squeezed from the peach tree in her backyard?
Bottom line: most of we network marketers are believers in the theory of attraction marketing. People will be attracted to (and build a relationship with) you first and secondarily with your network marketing company. Keeping this in mind you will never initiate a new contact touting the features of your best-thing-since-sliced-bread network marketing company.
Your primary goal is to get to know your potential prospect and get him/her to get to know you. Once there is a relationship, and only after your prospect opens the door by asking you questions about your business, do you even mention your primary business or its products or services.
