The 2 Questions That Will Give Palpitations To Any Network Marketer
Whether you have been in network marketing for a while or whether you
are a newbie there are some questions which will be asked by prospects which
you will be quite comfortable answering.
For example if you are asked about your network marketing company, chances
are you have a basic knowledge of historical facts: when it was started, who
started it and where, how it has grown
in terms of sales, product lines added, etc.
In time, you will become quite confident with these facts as you will
have said or written them in an email many times.
Somewhere in the process of recruiting, you will be asked two questions
that are extremely uncomfortable to answer.
Perhaps uncomfortable is to gentle a term. Let’s call these questions what they really
are: heart stoppers.
Here they are:
1.
How many people have you sponsored?
2.
How much money are you making?
It’s normal for your first inclination to be “shut up, it’s none of
your business”. But you give this
answer on a regular basis and you will have a group of one. You.
My first network marketing trainer instructed me to respond to either
of those questions with a “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you”. I was told to just keep repeating that answer
as often as either question was asked.
Over the years, mostly from doing group meetings, before opening the
meeting up for questions at the end of the opportunity presentation, I would
say, “There are only two questions I cannot respond to: 1. How large my group
is and 2. How much money I make.” With a
gathering of 100+ people at these meetings, you always expect someone to ask
“Why can’t you answer those questions?
Are you hiding something?”
I would think, “Hey, sir, how about I ask you how much you make on your
job?” But I didn’t. My response as to why I would not answer
those questions was because if I told you the size of my group or how much
money I was making that might be considered coercion to get you to
sign-up. I would always add “besides
maybe your group will be two or three times larger than my group or maybe not
as large as my group…it all depends on the effort you put in to building your
networking business.”
Today now that most of us are on the internet, those questions still
get asked of us. They come in the form
of emails or Skype chats. Just reword or
respond exactly as I did “There are only 2 questions I cannot answer as they
might be considered coercing you into joining our network marketing
opportunity. I can’t tell you how large
my group is. And, I can’t tell you how
much money I make.”
This works whether you are a veteran network marketer or if you just
joined the team an hour ago.
