The Network Marketing Party Is Over.

Article Overview: When someone leaves a network marketing company, our entire industry suffers. Usually when someone leaves they blame their upline for not providing enough help or the company for not having the right products or marketing for their products. It is refreshing when a person leaves our industry and takes personal responsibility for doing so. Yet as network marketers you cannot help but feel a sadness at having lost such a responsible person.

The Network Marketing Party Is Over.

As I was getting ready to write this very article, procrastination set in so I once again did the circuit of checking my email accounts for the 88th time today. One email had in its subject line the entire title from one of my articles. (Note to spammers, you want to get my attention simply put one of my titles in the subject line. What can I say?) I opened the email and read it. I re-read it and felt even more emotional the second time.

The person that wrote that email joined his/her network marketing company about five months ago. Although he/she has been buying their company's product, this person has yet to make any money at it. And, in spite of a great deal of effort has yet to sponsor one representative.

Do I know the complete back story? No. Can I say that his/her sponsor or upline were not supportive? No. Can I say that he/she gave 100% to get the business going? No.

Based on the sincere tone of the email and the sadness of the person for having to give up their networking business, I have to believe that this person had high hopes for success when starting the business five months ago. Does anyone start their business expecting it to fail?

Perhaps his/her product was too expensive in the current price sensitive marketplace. Perhaps the reason for not sponsoring someone was the fact that he/she is in the highly competitive health and wellness field along with 2,000 other network marketing companies. Both of these factors were beyond this person's control. And, I get the impression - based on what I read - that this person is taking personal responsibility for his/her present situation.

I respect this character attribute of not blaming anyone or any event for his/her present situation ESPECIALLY in our present "pass the buck" business climate.

This person reached the conclusion that since he/she was happy with the company's products that perhaps it would have been better to be a customer using the products rather than a representative trying to sell the products and recruit others to do the same.

Notice he/she did not spew nastiness against his/her sponsor or the company. Instead, taking the high road in spite of a lost financial and time investment, he/she was able to objectivity look at the situation and arrive at an extremely rational conclusion.

As a network marketing coach and mentor, I feel we all lose when someone leaves our industry. Especially someone who is willing to stand up and take personal responsibility for his/her ending a network marketing business.

Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? - I've been looking at a number of different opportunities and end up meeting a lot of Network Marketing / Multi-Level Marketing people. Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. - I have experience with MLM too. My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.
Network Marketing Business - Hello all, Recently, I had join a Network Marketing Business on a part-time basis. Does anyone here who has some knowledge on this type of business? I want to learn as fast as I can from all the gurus here
10 best franchises to get involved - My advice is: 1) Go to the library and start reading business books (accounting, finance, etc.) 2) Go to your local community college and enroll in night classes 3) Join the local Chamber of Commerce 4) Network / Network / Network -- through the above sources. Once you have spent two years doing the above, then look for a 55 - 60 year old business person that is looking to reduce their time in the business. Then you can work on a sweetheart financing option.
Re: answer this question - This is a good topic. I haven't done anything, yet, to seriously damage my business. I did shift gear though. It was the best decision I ever made. For me, affiliate marketing was not working. Making the switch to Network Marketing made all the difference.
