Why Can’t I Get People To Visit My Blog?

A better question would be: who knows about your blog?

Frequently posting quality content to your blog will get people to keep coming back for more. However, the problem with most blog owners is to get people to their blog for the first time.

Think of your blog as a retail store. The product that it offers to a specific market is useful information that they cannot find anywhere else. Like every other retail store in order to get customers through the door – or in your blog’s case in order to get online visitors – you have to apply marketing techniques.

Notice I said marketing TECHINQUES not a marketing technique.

You have to use multiple marketing programs simultaneously. For example, share a daily link to your friends on Facebook. Join groups or like pages that focus on similar themes to your blog…since they already have a number of “likes” to their page, chances are you can get this traffic over to see what you can offer them.

Use a service like OnlyWire that will blast out your latest posting to various other blog information websites.

I use Twitter to tweet about my daily postings.

Another useful tool is software to blast your new postings over the internet in the form of an RSS feed or to send them to social network bookmarking websites.

Provocative banner ads also produce traffic for me. I say provocative because you have to break through the banner clutter that is all over the internet. Your few words of copy on your banner should not only attract attention but should get people to click on the banner to find out what in the world you mean by such a statement.

Putting all of these blog marketing pieces together is a chore. I feel as though it is worth it as it produces thousands of visitors to my blog each month. But just as important, it is very difficult and time consuming to create fresh daily posting content, why not get the word out so you can reap the benefits of your effort?

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.

EvanCarmichael.com suggestion EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.

From my experience you need to implement some sort of SPAM capture tools. i use them on my Blog and it's been a life saver as I'm getting hit by spam atleast 5 times a day. I use Wordpress and they have plugins like Captcha and SPAM Karma installed.
