Your motive powers your network marketing locomotive.
Stop and
think: what motivates you to be involved in network marketing?
The most common reason
is to be able to enjoy life and have the lifestyle which a traditional job will
not provide for you and your family. Of
course we fully believe that the network marketing company we are with is the
perfect vehicle to get us there or we would not be investing our time and
effort into building our team.
While our goals may be
having more time to enjoy life, a bigger house or a dream car, what will be our
motive to propel us to achieving these?
I feel strongly that a
sustainable motive has to be more than making money. Do not get me wrong, we all need and want
more money but as a motive to power our network marketing locomotive, I do not
see it as a sustaining force in building your business.
Any successful network
marketing business is a team effort. I
am sure that you are building your team on a foundation of caring for those who
have been recruited into your group regardless of their (level) distance from you. If your motive is to fuel the success of
those sponsored below you, how can you not reap substantial rewards?
In an article I wrote a
while back, I spoke of someone I had personally sponsored who was getting ready
to do his first large, hotel group meeting.
I asked him if he was nervous. He
said, “No. The way I look at it is as
though each prospect attending the meeting has a hundred dollar bill slapped on
their forehead and all I have to do is grab as many of those hundred dollar
bills as I can.”
You can see with that
kind of motive his business presentation was extremely forced and insincere. This made it very difficult for me to
revitalize the group with my closing comments.
(P.S. Over the weeks that followed, in spite of my encouraging him to
change his reason for doing the business to one of caring for his team members,
he did not. To say the least, he did not
collect many hundred dollar bills before leaving the group shortly thereafter.)
How fast do you want
your business to grow? That depends on
how big your motive is to successfully grow your downline. If your success motivation for each of your
team members is the size of “Montana” expect rapid, exponential growth. On the other hand, if your success motivation
for each of your team members is the size of “Rhode Island” (hey, hey, hey…that’s
where I am from), you can expect a slower growth.
In brief: help your
team members get what they want and they will help you get what you want.
