• You can evaluate the viability of product lines in a slow economy and replace them with products with better revenue potential.
• Advertising your business online is relatively inexpensive and can be marketed globally. For example, you can opt for classifieds, videos, social networking sites, blogs, articles and email marketing.

Having discussed the strong points of starting the business, it is also equally important to choose and understand the "type" of business that would survive in any economy.

There are a few business ideas like consulting, network marketing, and direct sales that do well all the time. It is the basic human nature to look for other sources of income during tough times and these businesses satisfy that need. Re: Hi there - Hi Galuh, Welcome to the forum, you will get plenty of help here and from what you have said, you may have found a niche market there. Starting an Internet business is no different from any other business in as much as if you enjoy it and have knowledge of the subject then so much the better. From what you have said there may well be a market for your idea and it is something that you could start small and test the waters first. If it goes well then you can take it further. best wishes, Mal.
Business Innovation - Hi Simon If you can finish off the Business Plan and think about your strategic direction or how you are going to use your product to convince people it's a great idea, it will set the foundation for your programming project. You see, when you are looking for funding you will need a Business Plan and Strategic Plan that will convince companies to invest into your new idea. Has anyone achieved this idea before using another industry besides health and fitness that you know of? You should also design some mockups as a "preview" for your programming project. This will also help reduce your programming costs as everyone will know exactly what you want if you have detailed mockups already completed including any functionality you require. Starting mockups for websites and software applications on paper is the best way if you're not a guru in graphic editing software.

PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time.
