A Key Piece of Advice for Bloggers and Website Owners Seeking Increased Web Traffic

A whole lot of advice is given to bloggers and website owners about how they can receive increased web traffic. Much of this advice is really quite useful as it pays to read various recommendations.

One point I want to make is that you can’t rarely just toss out a blog or website and instantly see increased web traffic and loads of money to flow in. There are millions of sites up on the Internet and if the process were truly that simple, there would be billions of websites instead!

However, you shouldn’t get so locked up in how you are promoting your site that you forget the most important factor of all…be worthwhile

Driving traffic to a blog or website simply to sell your good or service may not yield the results you seek. If you really want to see increased web traffic and continuous growth, you should focus on creating a site that is worthwhile and useful to others.

Create a website or blog that contains quality information designed to help people. This will create a very different impression in your visitor’s mind than a site that is dedicated to making a sale.

Create and Share Value

Your goal should be to create a website that has real value. In this regard, you should be looking to create a site that helps people in some fashion.

The world is full of problems that people need help with; some of these problems are big and some are small. Your site doesn’t necessarily have to address “big” problems. Maybe instead you focus on helping people with smaller problems. The key point is that you make an effort to be helpful.

You Want Repeat Business

Most people are savvy enough to know when someone is simply trying to make a sale, and they don’t like it. Further, if you offer a site with helpful and useful content, then people may visit again.

Just like in the physical world, “repeat business” is a great thing. This is how people build businesses from the ground up.

Encourage Feedback

Here is another great idea for getting increased web traffic. You should encourage everyone who visits your site to give you feedback. Feedback is precious to you and can help you improve your site and your approach.

If people are emailing you stating, “I wish you would do this,” then that is definitely worth listing to. After all, this is a prospective client or customer!

When I began Internet marketing, I knew that I wanted to help people. I think that this underlying goal was a factor in why I was able to go from being unemployed in 2007 (after my 28 year career had ended) to now being financially secure.

In part I think I had this mindset as a result of being a yoga instructor for years. I already knew that helping people was a great way to get people to trust and respect me.

Providing people with a helpful website or blog greatly increases the chances that they will come back again, and this, of course, means the increased web traffic results you seek. Having people visit your site over and over is exactly what you want. So be helpful!

Re: What are your May Goals? Re: What are your May Goals? - Thanks Evan! I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!

Re: what position to request? Re: what position to request? - Hi Michael, Great suggestion from David, or you could try something around a design consultancy, How about Website Design Consultant, Design and Development Manager, Website Support and Development Manager or maybe Internet Business Development Consultant. Ultimately whatever you are comfortable with and good luck for the future, Mal.
Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
