Is MySpace Still Worth the Time?

Odds are you might already be questioning whether or not MySpace is worth the time anymore. In fact, you might well be wondering exactly who this site is for these days. The bottom line is that the traffic on MySpace is dropping like a stone. If you have been preoccupied with other things, such as getting your Internet marketing ventures up and running, then you might have missed MySpace's rather impressive plunge from Internet greatness.

Okay, MySpace isn't exactly dead, but it's looking a little sickly at this point. Facebook has sucked away vast amounts of MySpace's thunder. This is due, in part, to bewildering and somewhat self-destructive behavior by MySpace. After years of troubling its users with "brilliant" ideas like limiting how much people could use the site, people jumped on the opportunity to leave MySpace in favor of something new. As it turned out, Facebook did the trick rather nicely.

Internet marketers need to reach people and, of course, you want to reach lots of them. The more people you reach, the more people will see whatever it is you are selling. As a result, your profits can rise. Let's be blunt here, MySpace just isn't reaching people like it once did. Their endless stream of blunders has cost them and big time! If you want to reach people, you are much better off on sites like Facebook or even Twitter than you are on MySpace.

MySpace has another serious problem it is dealing with as well. MySpace isn't seen as being very hip and happening anymore, and once you've lost that edge, the road back is indeed quite difficult.

Most Internet marketers are dealing with limited resources and limited time. MySpace very much looks like a sinking ship, and this is an additional reason that you should likely spend your time elsewhere.

Knowing when it is time to take a different direction is very important. Back in 2007, I took a major hit when the housing industry crumbled. I had been very successful as a mortgage banker, but suddenly found myself broke. I lost my car, my mortgage business and was facing some unpleasant realities. However, I did have what I feel was something of an "ace up my sleeve." That ace was the fact that I had spent years studying and teaching yoga and mediation.

My experiences with yoga and meditation primed me to stay focused and calm. Yoga and meditation also gave me the determination I needed to start and rebuild. Sometimes you just need to know when its time to move on and put your attention elsewhere as this can be a major aspect of success.

These days I have rebuilt and now make more money than I have ever before. In part, this is due to being able to see what works. It is no secret that Facebook works better than MySpace. Being able to adjust, adapt and stay calm will serve you a great deal. I experienced this firsthand.

Re: Facebook and Beacon - What Do You Think Re: Facebook and Beacon - What Do You Think - Hi ChrisH, As a Facebook user myself, I can't say that I'm entirely surprised by Mark Zuckerberg's actions. Server costs are expensive and he's essentially sitting on a gold mine of users, so can we really blame him for "selling out" and trying to find new ways to profit? Facebook is the top dog for now, but one day there'll be a bigger and better social networking site and one that doesn't exploit its users... it's a fact of life. MySpace surpassed Friendster, while Facebook beat out MySpace. The only question is who will step up to take down Facebook? And how soon from now?
Subtle promo Subtle promo - [quote:qwzbxluf]I totally agree with your points, subtle promo is much better on these sites[/quote:qwzbxluf] A couple of days ago on MySpace, I received a "friend request" from someone who was clearly just a marketer... his request read just like those spam letters you get in your email. I didn't bother to respond, but i didn't delete his request, either. Today, although the request is still there, his photo is gone from it and "Profile removed" in its place. In other words, spammers on MySpace get deleted! So you've got to be subtle. I deal strictly with sf and fantasy groups, and space and marine science groups. There's several published authors there who're delighted to send review copies of their books...
