Ning Has Angered a Lot of Users and Here is Why

I find Ning to be a rather interesting Internet concept and approach. At its core, Ning was a crafty idea that allowed anyone to create their own social network. The way that it worked as people could create a Ning account and then use Ning's software to create a social networking site dedicated to whatever topic they wanted. It is common to find Ning sites on everything from food to television shows. The array of topics covered is substantial and rather impressive.

However, a turn of events in early 2010 left many people feeling as though they had wasted their time with Ning. One of Ning's largest selling points was the fact that one could have a Ning site for free, much like building a MySpace page, for example.

Ning flipped everything on its head as it began charging people to use the site. Thus all sorts of Ning users were left with a dilemma as to whether or not they should continue using the site.

Internet marketers need to question whether or not they wish to use Ning. Ning still enjoys a good amount of traffic and having your own social networking site could be useful. Yet, there is the issue of paying for the privilege. It's all about reaching lots of people and that means balancing your time and resources. For some people, Ning might still make sense. But have found that they want to spend their promotion time and money elsewhere.

You might see a specific way that Ning could help you with your Internet marketing goals. From this perspective, I still encourage you to investigate the site and see what you think. Most Internet marketers will feel that other sites such as Facebook, which are free, may be a better use of one's time.

I feel that staying calm is a major part of becoming successful and staying successful. No doubt there are many Ning users that are pretty upset with Ning's recent changes. My advice is that when an unexpected situation arises, it is best to skip the anger and frustration and calmly look for other avenues.

I have been a yoga instructor and follower of meditation for years. I feel that these practices gave me the discipline I needed was I experienced situations that could have derailed my success. In 2007, I lost everything, including the real estate business I built from the ground up when the real estate market crashed. However, I was able to rebuild thanks to Internet marketing and being able to stay focused. I strongly believe that you can learn to do the same.

Re: Kooiii Social media Search Re: Kooiii Social media Search - Dave, Not bad at all. I like the layout. Not too cluttered. Reminds me of a Ning site actually. Well, a decent Ning that's been modified extensively. I actually recognized some of my friends from my own Ning on your members list. I think you'll do well with site. Thumbs up. Cheers, Zac

Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? - Hi GT, Before I knew how easy it was to set up a membership site on Wordpress I would have opted for Ning as a free membership site platform. But nothing beats being able to host a membership site on your own website.
GT and All Mods, Spam Alert! GT and All Mods, Spam Alert! - I'm sure GT will get this soon, but in the mean time there's a spammer about all categories mods. I just deleted one in the review me cat. and see it's across all cats on the forum. Just a quick heads up, fixed soon I'm sure. Don't know why they even go through the trouble, they must know we are just going to delete and ban. I get them quite a bit at my Ning membership site....you know they "hey I like you and I'm sure we can be friends if you don't mind a difference in color or distance..." LOL Hope everyones having a great day...I'm getting reading for a big winter storm. Zac
Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube Re: Social Media & Digg, Google, MySpace, and YouTube - I use Google a lot for analysis and such. I recently started marketing through YouTube, and I like it a lot. Making videos is fun and enjoyable for me. I got a client who found me on YouTube and have been working together for a while now, so that's awesome. I just created a Facebook account a couple of days ago, so I'm just starting to market with it. StumpleUpon is another great site that can help benefit your website and rankings. I haven't ever heard of Ning before. I'll have to check that one out. All social sites are a great way to network and grow your business. Alan
