What You Should Do Instead of Television

The Truth About LinkedIn That You Might Not Want to Hear - By Didar Khalsa

Recently I have heard statistics about how much television America's watches. The numbers are pretty alarming. Some of us are watching five, six or even eight hours of television a day.

The problem isn't any better for young people. In fact, it's worse. It is now common for many young people to average as much as eight hours a day consuming some sort of electronic media. That is pretty frightening stuff, and is something that should feel all of us with a sense of dread.

The facts are that our consumption of media is not normal. The numbers of hours that people watch television is much lower in nearly every other industrialized country. Most countries do not even come close to match our consumption of all things media.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that spending several hours a day watching television is good way to make certain that you are not accomplishing your goals. Consider this fact for a moment; all that television watching is clearly cutting into people's sleep time.

We are always hearing that we are a nation that does not get enough sleep. Part of the reason is stress and worry. Another reason is too much television watching. Let's face it; a good deal of what is on television is stressful.

I am a firm believer in yoga and meditation. I believe in it so much that I have been a yoga instructor for years. Accomplishing your goals is about focus and having a clear mind. That is why I recommend yoga and mediation to everyone.

If you want to take that first "baby step," I suggest swapping out an hour of your television or web surfing time every day toward a more productive activity. Spend a few minutes exercising, taking a long walk and work up to twenty minutes of meditation.

Once you have been meditating for some time, you will notice that you feel better and can focus more clearly. Working out and meditation have been shown to help people combat the effects of stress, which can cause aging.

Now which makes more sense, spending your time on activities that will reduce stress or watching television? Keep in mind that reducing your stress levels can help your sleep and even reduce the effects of aging

Odds are you are looking for an edge that will help you make more money. I believe that anything you can do to make yourself more productive and focused will help you reach those goals.

Try skipping television for a week. If you feel as though you cannot do this, consider taping your favorite shows to watch later pm. During the week, take the times that you would have watched television, and pick up a book on business or personal development.

For any Internet marketer or entrepreneur, it only makes sense to avoid television and find more productive ways to spend your time.
