There is actually quite a bit about About.com that you don't already know. When I lost my job as a mortgage broker back in 2007, I knew I had to do something, anything and fast to earn money. My job was gone, my car was gone and I was definitely feeling the heat.

Years of working as a yoga instructor helped me stay focused and calm. It's a good thing that I did stay relaxed. Now I make more money than I ever dreamed of. This is all thanks to what I learned about Internet marketing.

What I realized about the Internet was it is a vast sea of unending opportunity. This is really the case as there has never been a machine like the Internet. It is quite literally turning all sorts of people into "Internet millionaires."

This is the case even in a tough economy. If you are thinking that you can't do it, I encourage you to take a closer look at all the opportunities that are out there.

Information is everything and one great source of information is About.com. About.com has a nearly endless stream of articles. But there is something that you likely don't know about About.com.

If you are an Internet marketer, which is how I've made my money, you might think that you could use About.com to write and post articles on a topic that you know and love. Well, forget about that notion.

The New York Times owns About.com, and they keep editorial control over all the content that appears on their site. So that essentially means that you will not be marketing through About.com.

This is something of a shame as About.com is one of the most popular sites on the web and has millions of visitors. Most of these visitors probably think that they are using an independently owned site, but this isn't the case.

Don't get sucked into the negative thinking that making money is for the "big guys." The big guys all get up in the morning and have a cup of coffee get dressed and go to work. They are just like you and really have no particular advantage that you don't have.

The bottom line is that the Internet has opened up new ways of not just communicating with people but also making money in the process as well. It is time to seize the day and start living your dreams.

Re: Who hates cold calling? - I saw this and had to chime in. I HATE COLD CALLS. lol its terrible and a wast of my time. Something i have done is gotten online and found all the networking event happening in my area for the next 2 months and i try and go to about 3 a week. Even just for an hour. Dont bring any business cards. Just meet new people ask them alot about what they do, not too much about what i do and follow up the next day or 2. Has worked well
