Here are the simple steps that you need to do and know how to do:


1.Set up your facebook profile.Your profile should be all about you, not all about your business. This might seem strange, but trust me, if you'r all about sell sell sell and people don't find something of value, they will hurry to another page. Nobody likes to be sold on the first date! There are 3 important parts of your profile page that you need to set up. First it's the picture. The picture obviously should be of you. Choose a picture where your smiling and that is pretty close up. Under the picture there is a small box for you where you can write a mini bio. Make it short and describe yourself to the reader. What is you profession, what do you like about it and what are your expert fields. The last important part is the URL field where you can put your landingpage, your blog or a link to your twitter profile.


2.Adding Friends. Off course if you want to generate leads you need to add new friends. Be careful not to add to many or facebook will block you. Go into a profile of a person that is already your friend and that is in the same business as you. Simply add some of their friends. Doing this you will find people that have the same interest and people that will find your opportunity or you as a person interesting.


3.Facebook Groups. A really good way to get out to your target audience and to generate new leads, is to set up a facebook group. Facebook lets you invite all your friends to that group and as people join this will become a highlight on their wall, so that their friends can see it and join as well. Other members of your group can also invite all of their friends. What's really great about facebook groups is that when you'r the admin of a group, facebook lets you send out a message to every member of that group. In that way you can, lets say once a week share something of value to your group members. You should also join other groups and share comments, pictures, links and videos to these groups.


4.The News Feed.This is what everyone sees on their homepage when they log in. Here everyone can post whatever they like. You can share a texts, photos, links and videos. Off course you need to share something to your audience. But what to share? The number one rule here is to share something of value for the reader. Share a good quote, a link to a informative article, a good video that you found on YouTube or your view on a news story and so on. You can also share something fun. It's very effective to share a joke or a fun video. What you want to achieve with your posts is getting people's interest and their comments. If people like what you share, they most likely will go ahead and check out your profile. Share something your grandmother would be proud to read!

Re: Twiiter an sales Re: Twiiter an sales - Best way to use Twitter in my opinion is to use it to distribute content that helps your target market, not your sales pitch. The whole concept of social media is very simple, be social thats it !! Its not rocket science, interact with people and join the discussion, if you use social media with an outlook of how can I help people I guarentee you will get results, why ? Because the social networks are full of people ramming their services and opportunities down others throats all climbing over themselves to say their the best. Prove that your the best by caring about your prospects and you will win them over in time. A little strategy for you, please feel free to comment on this as i love to find out what others do as well, if you have a blog update it with info that your target market will find useful, this can be as simple as taking a video from Youtube but if you have got your own videos great, and putting it on your wall, then distribute that blog post to your Facebook wall, fan page or through twitter, maybe a little message like "hey Fb friends found this great video on how social media can help you boost sales" just a quick example here, then take that blog post and post it on relevant groups walls for all to see. Share cool stuff and your prospects will come to know like and trust you, we all know what happens after that!! Good luck

Re: How much is social media part of your marketing strategy? - Most of the companies make gross mistake by using techniques listed on the internet without even looking into whether they are suitable for their business or not. If you are dance company, music company etc etc then you simply cannot afford to ignore social media. There are several other businesses which perform well in social media promotion. You need to look whether social media will help your business or not. If you see huge pool of customers who are searching for your services on Youtube, metacafe, then surely you must jump for it.

Bit of info for you, so you know where we are. 1. I have a working prototype. 2. This is a web based piece of software. 3. The software has to do with social media. (Although it is not a social site) 4. It is a tool for social media users. Cross platform, meaning, Facebook, twitter, linkedin etc.. all the major ones. 5. We have active users. This is a tested solution with real users. We did a market test and had 40-50 users signup within 1 day. We are currently not accepting new users until the beta is completed. 6. We are ready to start looking for Venture Capital or Investors. Where should we start? Patent? First to market? NDA's? Anyone have experience in this realm? What should we do first? .

Re: Twitter, Social Networking: What's Your method? - The bottom line: You can have thousands of friends, and it takes only a second to add one, if you don't make conversation with them, it is a useless tool, like all social media sites. I know many people who concentrate mainly on social media marketing, and they make money, but it takes time. Personally, I rather skip social media and focus on other stuff, like article marketing, and I use social media only for fun and communicate with best friends.
