How Do Successful Christian Internet Marketers Drive Away Snake Oil Salesmen?

Guest post by: SarahBeth White

Article Overview: Having found my niche in Internet marketing, I am now my own boss. I am presently building an e-commerce business while traditional businesses feel the pinch. E-commerce continues to grow in leaps and bounds and all projections are that it is only going to grow bigger. The difficulty is to find a legitimate Internet marketing business mingled in with all the scams. Some scams are even labeled as “Christian” opportunities. I do not know why scam artists think Christians are stupid and uneducated but with the research I have done, all I can gather is that scam artists think Christians are an easy target for the “snake oil” they are selling.

How Do Successful Christian Internet Marketers Drive Away Snake Oil Salesmen?

Most church members do not like to think of their church as a business but it is. A church has bills to pay just like we do. Recently our pastor announced during the church service that the church was broke, completely broke. This recession, this economic downturn or whatever you wish to call it has hit churches hard, too. Our churches will never "go out of business" but activities we have taken for granted may become limited or defunct. There is a way to continue tithing. It is also possible for me to reach my personal goal, to increase my giving, even though these times are hard and despite being laid off. First and foremost we, as Christians, turn to our CEO, God Almighty, for direction. Next piece of advice from me is to use e-commerce as a church or as church members who want to give more than just a tithe.

Even before being laid off, I had looked for a home based business so that job security did not hinge on the whim of a boss, on economic downturns, on office politics, or any number of threats the traditional job force offers. Having found my niche in Internet marketing, I am now my own boss. I am presently building an e-commerce business while traditional businesses feel the pinch. E-commerce continues to grow in leaps and bounds and all projections are that it is only going to grow bigger. The difficulty is to find a legitimate Internet marketing business mingled in with all the scams. Some scams are even labeled as "Christian" opportunities. I do not know why scam artists think Christians are stupid and uneducated but with the research I have done, all I can gather is that scam artists think Christians are an easy target for the "snake oil" they are pushing.

Not only are Christians educated but having God on your side gives an edge to your business that is phenomenal. Non Christians cannot understand why churches grow more during difficult times. Non Christians cannot understand much of anything about the church and how it functions. If the church they are targeting is truly founded on God and His principles, then snake oil salesman/Internet scam artists, will be shut out of the Christian Internet marketing business arena forever.

Since my layoff, the successful Internet marketing business I found continues to grow and prosper beyond anything that could be found in the traditional job market. I believe that God has allowed me to become psychologically unemployable so that my time and my effort are focused on my business rather moreso than another traditional market. I have always desired to give gifts above and beyond my tithe, of writing out a check to my church, if I saw a need. While working my traditional job, I am ashamed to say that very often I would not even give my tithe because I was overwhelmed by the pile of bills at home. As a Christian this is not something I want to admit openly.

Besides the additional gift being possible, it will be a necessary facet of my business. God pointed the way to this business and no other and He expects me to follow His lead in order to impact my church and its activities. He will take care of everything else along the way. Even the name of this business points to the fact that God does not need our money. He just wants us to trust and obey Him. I would rather put that trust in what He promises than in what a brick and mortar HR promises. I have personal experiences with the promises that God provides. His promises always ring true because He is holy. He cannot lie. My life is not my own but His.

Furthermore, my life is happier and more fulfilled. I now have time to spend with my son; time to go hiking with my dog, Mo; and time with my close friends and my family. Time = Freedom.

Considered to be highly educated. Enjoy traveling in the U.S. learning about our different cultures. Staunch Republican and Southern Baptist which is considered by some to be a lethal combination. Belonging to the ranks of those laid off, I am rebuilding my life so my writing will soon reflect as much. Burning desire in my soul to write but for two years now the only writing I have done is resumes and cover letters. Cattle on 1000 Hills as my blopspot name http://cattleon1000hills.blogspot.com, Facebook, have lain dormant too long. They are about to bust loose! My friends think I am crazy or brave or both but I have decided to leave the comforts of my 'home' and move to the mountains where I always planned on 'retiring'. I can enjoy hiking with my dog, Mo, sitting in front of my potbellied stove reading and writing, and sitting outside writing with the music of nature in my ears instead of all the sounds of the city which now annoy me. Mo, a Newffie, looks like a bear and we hope to see a black bear but not up close and personal. Mo is about the size of a smaller black bear so he will have to wear the hunting vests I custom made for him when we hike so no one mistakes him for one. I am so excited about our new life and long to begin writing from all that has been saved up during this dormancy.

Re: Why Your Business' Website Is Not Making You Money Re: Why Your Business' Website Is Not Making You Money - Hi Jackie, As GT has said, word of mouth has a place on the Internet but is usually more associated in a local sense. I have seen some fantastic websites that don’t get traffic and very poor sites that get lots of traffic but no sales. The trick is to find a niche or a product where there is a demand. Design a relevant website full of interesting and updated content. Drive as much traffic by whatever means that you can. If you can bring these three elements together then you are far more likely to make a success of your Internet business. regards, Mal.

Re: 3 Signs That I Need To Get Serious About IM... Re: 3 Signs That I Need To Get Serious About IM... - Hi David and GT, I can totally sympathise with your dilemma. For those Internet Marketers who work from home full time, you have my admiration, for those of us still trying to get there we are stuck between two stools. I have my regular job in training which keeps the wolf from the door but because I have to do a fair amount of travelling I sometimes arrive home late. I spend most of my days talking and organising classes and administration so I find that I am mentally not physically tired and it is sometimes difficult to focus. My plan is to redress the balance so that eventually I can reduce my regular work to part time in order to put in the extra time that IM demands. Until that time comes I will always be chasing the clock and always feel guilty if I haven’t spent enough time on the Internet when I get home. regards, Mal.

It's replaced the tactic of using pictures of Ferraris on one's site to impress.
