How Do You Use Facebook for Business?

1.Create the right kind of profile.

Do not put ads out continually because it is a 'social' media and should be used first to build relationships with people as you gradually bring them in as your customers.

2.Relationship building should be accomplished by giving value and content.

Even your photo should give off an air of happiness and success so use a photo that is professional and appropriate but smiling. This is Facebook after all. A suggestion: If you see someone's page using a logo or pretty scenery, it means they are not serious about marketing so do not add them.

3.Let your favorite quotation be a little light hearted as well. Do not be too serious minded in the quote you choose.

4.Your profile should tell a story. So be yourself. Share your zany hobbies and things you like to do. Show off your personality. List books you have read.

5.With limited space in the profile, use it to show off your website instead of birthday, home town, etc. Using your blog and/or Twitter as links are good but list no more than 3 links. You will overwhelm people and chase them away.

6.In the About Me Section, less is more. Write 2 or 3 brief paragraphs on how you got where you are, then promote your blog or Twitter page.

Since you can only add 5000 friends on Facebook, you need to choose wisely. You have the option of becoming a fan instead of a friend which will keep you from capping out your total of 5000 friends too quickly. Remember you are trying to use Facebook for business. Look for like minded people who will eventually become your profitable friends. Use the search box using keywords, names of people like Mike Dillard, and books to find friends with similar interests.

Primarily, how to use Facebook for business means you are putting together connections and relationships instead of just adding friends. People are always looking for a better life and you can give them that. You can copy and paste a canned message to speed up the process of adding 20-30 friends a day but always use their name in your request and in your reply. Also, change up the canned message with each friend request. Be personable. Address them by name and try to use something from their account that you have in common.

How to use Facebook for business using this simple example:

"Hey Jane, I see you are a student of the law of attraction. So am I. Let's connect." Do not be too aggressive - be a friend. In making 20 to 30 friend requests a day, use their name in the invitation and use this as a time to be personal not stodgy and business like. An important suggestion for choosing friends to add: This is Facebook so do not choose those who have used a logo or scenery instead of their face.

Another reason to change up your message a little bit as you add friends is that Facebook has triggers in place to detect mass friend adding. So another greeting you can use: "Hi John, I see you are a fan of Jim Rohn. Why don't we connect?" Just change the message around so it is not the same on each friend request.

Next make 20 to 30 requests per day and do so at the same time every day but vary the direction of your requests. For example: on Monday, search for friends of The Secret. On Tuesday, search for friends of Jim Rohn. And so forth during the week, but change your messages around as well so that they are not repetitive.

If you see that your new friend prospect is already in network marketing, use this example: "Hey John, great to meet you. What business are you in? How is it working out for you?" Don't pounce on them. Let your next message be: "Hey John, I'm in business for myself also. We have fantastic training every Monday night that can help anybody's business. I will get that link to you so you can come listen to this training for free, no strings attached. I'll send you an invite, okay?"

If you are positive and show interest in people, they will become interested in you. You can use this same approach for MLM'ers. Let your subject be 'Leads': "Great to hear about your business, Jane. I'm in internet marketing training. We teach people how to generate leads and succeed online. I will send you an invitation to this free, no strings attached training on how to use Twitter and Facebook for business. You may think you have heard it all but it can't hurt to compare our systems, would it? As you know, education is the key to internet marketing. We have to stay on top or we will get left behind. Right?"

What we are offering is HUGE. We are offering the chance to look over the shoulder of a top internet marketer to see how marketing masters use Facebook for business to make their millions. Each week, you have an opportunity on Mondays to learn from our Master Marketing Group.

In addition, set up a group on Facebook so you are not sending people to your landing page which will just turn them off and then you have lost your chance at them. So create your group, target network marketers to add tips and tricks but do not pitch your business yet. Remember, you want to build relationships first. You can pitch your business in due time. Be patient.

In following up your message in your subject line, you can say: Free Facebook Training Tonight. You should again refer to them by name; then invite John/Jane to a free training Webinar to learn how to generate tons of leads. After this, you can funnel them to your landing page as you have built this relationship based on free education which gets a better response.

Use Facebook in your business to give value then funnel to other pages. You can paste videos on the walls of your profitable friends that you have been building relationships with. The more value you can give, the more they will come back to you.

Another example: Check out Martin Van Zyl. He had a $0 marketing budget but made a phenomenal amount of money on Twitter. See what he is doing. See how he has had to use social media to generate leads. Martin started with Facebook, then followed up with Twitter training, You Tube for videos, and writing blogs. His strategy and yours should be to offer sources of good content.

Start with something you have read. Find an article; focus on a blog post such as Why Being the Breadwinner Doesn't Mean You Win Anything by Martin Van Zyl. Write 2 to 3 articles a week. Also use the You Tube button, press to upload video which will add more friends as they view videos which are offering more content and value.

To recap, remember you want to:

Create the right kind of profile.

Do not pitch your business all the time or you will drive people away.

This is 'social' media so take the time to be sociable and build relationships with people.

You build those relationships by giving value and content.

Even something as simple as your photo should give off an air of happiness and success.

Your profile should tell a story. Be yourself. Share your zany hobbies and things you like to do.

Add links using your blog and/or Twitter but do not add more than 3 links. Don't overwhelm them and chase people away.

Now, the methods listed here for how to use Facebook for business may seem overly simplistic. That is because they are. Do not try to re-invent the wheel or make this harder than it is. Just implement the simple steps laid out here and see if you don't find any improvements in getting leads or business.

Since I became a member of this internet marketing business, I can sit in on remarkable education like this every day. My life is happier and more fulfilled. I now have more time to spend with my son; more time to go hiking with my dog, Mo; and more time with my close friends and family. Time = Freedom. Teaching like "How to Use Facebook in Business" is just one of many, many ideas to help you grow your business.

Considered to be highly educated. Enjoy traveling in the U.S. learning about our different cultures. Staunch Republican and Southern Baptist which is considered by some to be a lethal combination. Belonging to the ranks of those laid off, I am rebuilding my life so my writing will soon reflect as much. Burning desire in my soul to write but for two years now the only writing I have done is resumes and cover letters but enough of that. I did attempt to make it in a couple of internet marketing businesses but just as in brick and mortar businesses you need capital to make it. Although suggestions of 'how to make it advertising with no monies' were made--it just did not happen for me and I only lost money after long attempts at succeeding. I am incorporated now as Cattle on 1000 Hills, LLC dabbling in real estate but that is all--dabbling.http://cattleon1000hills.blogspot.com, Facebook, and http://twitter.com/SarahBethWhite have lain dormant too long like cocoons waiting for the butterfly to come forth. And they are about to bust loose! My friends think I am crazy or brave or both but I have decided to leave the comforts of my 'home' and move to the mountains where I always planned on 'retiring'. I can enjoy hiking with my dog, Mo, sitting in front of my potbellied stove reading and writing, and sitting outside writing with the music of nature in my ears instead of all the sounds of the city which now annoy me. Mo, a Newffie, looks like a bear and we hope to see a black bear but not up close and personal. Mo is about the size of a smaller black bear so he will have to wear the hunting vests I custom made for him when we hike so no one mistakes him for a bear. I am so excited about our new life and long to begin writing from all that has been saved up during this dormancy.

Re: Twitter vs Facebook Re: Twitter vs Facebook - I use Facebook pages for Business and rarely ever use Twitter. I hace lost count of the no. of Hotels that I have visited, regarding their marketing campaigns, that may have 5k Facebook Fans and only 100 followers on Twitter. It is a lot more difficult to engage with people on Twitter and thus harder to gain traction. If you are a business like Nike, then Twitter is great, but if you are an SME, then focus on Facebook or LinkedIn (if you are providing a professional service.) You can always have your Facebook feed directly in to Twitter, so you can have a presence on both, but do the work on one. Also check out ping.fm for managing campaigns - it is a free tool, and a great time saver.

Re: Social media question Re: Social media question - Facebook is where I get all my traffic. Facebook is great, because you can create fan pages and your customers come to you. Twitter is good, but I just don't see the same results. I think Facebook is the most popular and it's easier for people to find what they're looking for.
Facebook and Business Facebook and Business - While on the Elevator today I read that MySpace and Facebook are surpassing adult-sites in traffic volumes - just thought that was interesting fact. As far as your business is concerned I think that having a Facebook account is viable as long as you keep it business and the most important thing to increase your traffic would be to link up with people well-known in your business-circle. e.g. if your were in the Marketing Business Circle I would link up with people like Dan Kennedy, Mike Filsame, Yanik Silver etc. People linked up with them will now start pouring into your content.
Re: Facebook Advertising? Re: Facebook Advertising? - Facebook has more than 700 million active users and half of them log in on a daily basis. Through Facebook advertising, you can be sure to reach any particular segment. Conventional advertising models are expensive and difficult to reach a narrow target. Facebook advertising is one option that can get you results and target specific user groups. You may be the local beauty parlor, restaurant or a Fortune 500 organization, but eBizUniverse will show how to build your brand equity through Facebook advertising. Consider these ideal scenarios: You own a restaurant and wish to target those who are recently engaged to be married for their catering business. All you need to do is to find the women with the relationship status of “engaged” on Facebook and you have your desired segment with Facebook Ads. (See Sample Ads Below) There is a birthday special that your restaurant is offering and the Facebook Ads would be displayed only to those whose birthdays are in the offing. An event is being organized and you wish to target local college graduates, who are single and 25-35 years old. They are on Facebook and you can reach them with Facebook Ads.
