How is a Home Based Internet Marketing Business an Addiction? - Part Two

1) You awaken at all hours with ideas that cannot wait until morning.

2) You lock yourself in your office for hours at a time.

3) Sales fuel the Addiction - You crave sales.

4) Increased consumption of caffeine and nicotine occurs.

5) If you are away from computer, cell phone, laptop, etc. more than 10 minutes, withdrawals set in.

As a result of my addiction to my home based Internet marketing business, I wake up all hours of the night with ideas for marketing and subjects for articles just like a junkie might awaken in need of a fix. "Earlybirdism" is a family trait so waking at 4 or 5 in the morning is quite the norm. Suddenly though, I awaken at 1 or 2 in the morning with these brilliant ideas. Even the brew time on my coffee maker has been reset to coincide with these earlier times, because I hate waiting for my coffee in the morning, no matter when morning begins. Furthermore, locking myself in my office for hours at a time without pause has caused my family concern.

At least my dog is able to keep me on track because he will get in my face with those piercing brown eyes if I stray too far past his walk time. My dog, Mo, is a Newffie, so he is tall enough to get in my face and he will not budge once this intervention begins. Once outside though with Mo, it turns into a welcome relief temporarily but the cravings persist. I now spend our walks thinking about the business I am building and some walks get cut short because a new idea pops into my head and I selfishly want to get home immediately. Plus, if I daydream too much, I might find myself airborne because Mo has spotted something he wants to chase.

In addition, the satisfaction of sales feeds the addiction. Of course it would. That is why I am out here, is it not? So I crave more sales. What do I do to continue receiving those sales and leads? Succeeding at my home based Internet marketing business is imperative. Failure is not an option. My traditional job search is suffering. What was I thinking? Is this online business real? If real, will it work for me? Because I have burned my bridges and my ships, making a profit from this venture has to happen. Daily, I listen to success stories that spur me on. If they can do it, then so can I. Right? All I have to do is stay focused.

Oops, I just grabbed another mug of coffee which is way over my limit as are the extra cigarettes I am smoking. Mo is not in a hurry today. We can hear how hard it is raining outside. So I get to sneak in even more time to finish the confessions of a growing addiction to my home based Internet marketing business. It seems that when I am walking Mo or doing chores outside, I get the best ideas and withdrawals set in if I am not able to get back to my computer.

Since the weatherman says more rain, we cannot put our walk off any longer. Better get suited up in my rain gear and grab half a dozen towels for drying Mo when our walk concludes. Actually I am considering getting one of those shop-vacs for these rainy days. Newffies have layers of hair since one of their talents is to rescue swimmers in trouble in Northern cold water and towels just don't do the job. But he deserves to have his full walk time and even though I fight it, I need that long walk with Mo to get fresh air, to clear my head, and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the morning. I do try to rest my brain on these walks but some really marvelous ideas come off the top of my head in that refreshing morning air. I am as fully immersed in this business as I will be soaked from the rain after walking Mo.

Finally this amazing internet marketing system is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I now have time to spend with my son; time to go hiking with Mo; and time with close friends and family. Time = Freedom.

Considered to be highly educated. Enjoy traveling in the U.S. learning about our different cultures. Staunch Republican and Southern Baptist which is considered by some to be a lethal combination. Belonging to the ranks of those laid off, I am rebuilding my life so my writing will soon reflect as much. Burning desire in my soul to write but for two years now the only writing I have done is resumes and cover letters. Cattle on 1000 Hills as my blopspot name http://cattleon1000hills.blogspot.com, Facebook, have lain dormant too long. They are about to bust loose! My friends think I am crazy or brave or both but I have decided to leave the comforts of my 'home' and move to the mountains where I always planned on 'retiring'. I can enjoy hiking with my dog, Mo, sitting in front of my potbellied stove reading and writing, and sitting outside writing with the music of nature in my ears instead of all the sounds of the city which now annoy me. Mo, a Newffie, looks like a bear and we hope to see a black bear but not up close and personal. Mo is about the size of a smaller black bear so he will have to wear the hunting vests I custom made for him when we hike so no one mistakes him for one. I am so excited about our new life and long to begin writing from all that has been saved up during this dormancy.

Re: Who inspired you to start? Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business. Regards,

Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
