What is The Best Investment You Can Make?
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land produces.~Proverbs 3:9
This mighty nation is going through some very difficult times. Oil, food, and almost everything else has seen its price increased. It is rare if a family has not been touched by a layoff or has not been faced with taking measures to avoid foreclosure.
Furthermore, our personal incomes have been affected by layoffs/downsizing, pay cuts, closing lifetime family businesses with most people, in despair, not knowing where to turn for help. Banks have suffered losses as well and either cannot lend anymore or refuse to take chances because the market gains and then suffers losses causing investments and retirement funds to grow smaller. King Solomon, who had more treasure than anyone else ever imagined during his time and even now, knew that the best investment you could make is in God's kingdom. Those investments will always grow and will never be in jeopardy.
Also, King Solomon recognized that the Lord deserves honor and respect. Solomon knew that the commands God had given Moses were just as relevant to him (and to us). So Solomon encouraged his people to show respect to God with the first fruits (income) of their labors.
Yet why would God ask to be honored by receiving a portion of your income? He does not need your money. What He wants is your obedience. Because when we obey God, we are promised help, according to His will, through the hard times we may be having (like our nation is experiencing right now). Therefore, if things do not work out like we want, we can rest assured that He has something even better than we can imagine in store for us. And we should not second guess Him or put limitations on Him. We must trust God and His greater plan for us which can be hard to do. We tend to get impatient and we tend to think we know what is best.
So even though I am going through difficult times, I have asked God to help me honor Him with a portion of the blessings which He has provided. I may think I have worked hard and built this internet business on my own, but You were there every step of the way. I am grateful that You are the best investment I could ever make and I know that if I invest in You, I will never suffer loss. Show me how to trust You by giving to You even if I am struggling to pay my bills.
Finally my life is happier and more fulfilled because now I have time to spend with my son; time to go hiking with my dog, Mo; and time to spend with my close friends and family. Time = Freedom.

Staunch Republican and Southern Baptist which is considered by some to be a lethal combination. Belonging to the ranks of those laid off, I am rebuilding my life so my writing will soon reflect as much. Burning desire in my soul to write but for two years now the only writing I have done is resumes and cover letters. Cattle on 1000 Hills as my blopspot name http://cattleon1000hills.blogspot.com, Facebook, have lain dormant too long. They are about to bust loose! My friends think I am crazy or brave or both but I have decided to leave the comforts of my 'home' and move to the mountains where I always planned on 'retiring'. I can enjoy hiking with my dog, Mo, sitting in front of my potbellied stove reading and writing, and sitting outside writing with the music of nature in my ears instead of all the sounds of the city which now annoy me. Mo, a Newffie, looks like a bear and we hope to see a black bear but not up close and personal. Mo is about the size of a smaller black bear so he will have to wear the hunting vests I custom made for him when we hike so no one mistakes him for one. I am so excited about our new life and long to begin writing from all that has been saved up during this dormancy.
