How to Set Up Gmail to Autorespond

This is a nice way to automatically respond to certain emails you get so that you can contact your prospects in your affiliate program, for example, with those emails saying "is a new prospect" as part of the subject line. This keeps the prospect engaged and hopefully induces them to continue the conversation. You can just send them a short email where you introduce yourself and offer to help if they have any questions.

Setting Up a Canned Response in Gmail:

Click on Settings > Labs. Scroll down to Canned Responses (about halfway down the page). Click Enable. Scroll to bottom, click Save Changes.

Click Compose Mail. Select New canned response in drop-down menu. Name it.

Create a message. Example:

Hi there. My name is... and I notice that you visited my web site. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm here to personally help you however I can.

Thanks.

(Your name here)

Select Save (message name) in the Canned responses drop-down.

Discard message.

Click on Settings > Filters > Create a new filter

Paste common text from subject of new prospect notice e.g., "is a new prospect" into Subject field.

Click Next Step. Choose canned response from drop-down. Check Send canned response and click Create Filter.

you can use this auto response for any program you get leads from that emails you with a default message "new prospect" etc. as long as the sending email address is of your leads email address because your lead should be the one to receive the pre-written or canned response email.

That solves... almost everything. I just mentioned Gmail because it's popular, and it supports IMAP.

Re: How to Manage Your Emails Re: How to Manage Your Emails - I get at least 100 emails in my main account every day. And at least another 100 total in my other accounts. Gmail is very good at sorting them. Not a lot of spam makes it to my inbox and rarely does a legit email get sent to the spam box.

Re: Twitter direct messages question Re: Twitter direct messages question - I don't send direct messages, automated or otherwise, to new sign-ups. The numerous Twitter DMs I receive come to me on Gmail so I can scan the first few words of the message and they are always automated. I do occasionally send a direct message in response to tweets, but more usually a public @. I still use Twitter to post arcane thoughts, quotations and links that attract my interest and then occasionally include a blog update or something. I really don't spend much time on Twitter. The process of getting sign ups is now working on automatic. I follow almost all those who have put icons up, and hardly any of those who haven't. Time on Twitter? 10-20 minutes a week I suppose.
