Social Networking Marketing Tools, Tips and Techniques to Keep You Alive in the Social Sphere

What is the most important social networking marketing tool? That is a tough question to answer because in this new day and age of social networking, many aspects are important. The basics of a computer, internet access and the capacity to communicate are understood, but to be able to market a product or service requires creativity, good use of words and imagination, but are any of these actually considered a social networking marketing tool?

A tool is something used to accomplish a task, and here, we're talking about the task of conducting marketing to further awareness of a business offering products or services. Each of the many social sites can be considered a tool that will help build recognition into a business's overall objective.

Starting small with a Facebook, MySpace, Plaxo or LinkedIn account is a great way to get started.

An individual or company can easily establish a presence with any of the social marketing sites that provides tools or techniques here and there for counting visitors, like Plexo on Squidoo, or great ideas for updating pages, easy to follow instructions and prompts to link with other people and businesses that are on social networking sites. Each of the websites mentioned above, and plenty of others, offer a social networking marketing tool to help describe how to make your pages/lenses more attractive or appealing to obtain readers, such as writing engaging copy to pull in comments, spreading the word about your postings to have them read, and linking all your social marketing sites together to create traffic to all of them.

One important social networking marketing tip is to remain transparent and humble in your claims. On the internet, sometimes it is assumed that no one can track one down to verify claims, but beware, because once a word gets out about your business, it may never go away. A company may delete a page from its website, but if an individual has made claims that are untrue, those claims can last forever, along with bashing and other negativity. When a negative input comes up on a social networking marketing website regarding a company, use it as a tool to be sincere and good in a response that is humble and apologetic as opposed to being defensive. Another social networking marketing tip is to not make promises that cannot be met. Claims of weight loss of 50 pounds in one week with a magic exercise machine or a wonder growth pill that will grow back hair in a day are just too far out there. Be reasonable in your claims and if they haven't been tested, don't put it out there.

Most of all, realize that social marketing in just another tool in an integrated your overall marketing campaign.

Re: How can a social networking site make serious money? Re: How can a social networking site make serious money? - Hi There, It is quite interesting, that some Social Networking do produce an income. I think testimonials are always a benefit to share. See one below: This Social Network has changed my life! Every night is a Friday night and everyday is a Saturday!! Because of it, I have been able to leave the workforce 10 years early. It has given me back my life. Many of us would like to retire early. I am sure there are many more. The point is of focusing with great determination. The ongoing challenge is to stay focussed and not be sidetracked into a newer scheme or so. Also I have read, during this financial turmoil, more people turn to Social Networking for various reasons.

This is a quote from a 2009 Topic "Twitter, Social Networking, What is your Method? From my experience, social networking traffic (Twitter included) also converts at a far lower rate than search engine traffic. Evan Is this still true, or do you use something that gives us better returns and conversions
Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Re: How to Promote Your Business Online Re: How to Promote Your Business Online - Thanks for the list ZekeLL , I use many of these ways to promote my online business and am looking into using more of them. I also use Article Marketing, Social Networking and Blogging which I find a very good way to get traffic to my site and also gain valuable backlinks. Take care, Carol
