What Separates Successful People From Unsuccessful People?

As I've mentioned before, it's mandatory to be in the profit system rather than the wage system. Once you are in the profit system, then what do you do? Step one is to follow the proven system. Your network marketing or direct sales company has probably spent millions of dollars finding out what works and they built a system that is proven to work. The people who succeed in that business follow the system. If you wanted to be successful in real estate, wouldn't you find someone who's successful in real estate and then do exactly what they do? If you wanted to be a successful parent, wouldn't you want to find out what successful parents are doing?

Step two is don't quit. A lot of people quit their network marketing or direct sales business before they can become successful. Most people overestimate what they can do in a year, but underestimate what they can do in ten years. They think they are going to get rich quick, but when that doesn't happen, they quit. What they don't realize is that if they were just to go a little bit longer; maybe a lot bit longer, things will finally start to click for them and their businesses will grow faster than they ever imagined. No successful network marketer ever thought to themselves, "If I don't make it big in the next six months, I'm going to quit." No, they did whatever it took, for as long as it took, to become successful.

Step three is to be a Fisher rather than a Hunter. Being overly aggressive means that you are a hunter. When an animal is being hunted, it runs. Why does it run? Because it doesn't want to be caught and killed. The same logic goes for people. When people are hunted, they become afraid that you are going to catch them and they will run. When you are fishing an animal, the animal comes to you. When you are fishing, you attract people.

Sometimes, fishing isn't easy. Sometimes, you can go fishing, but you catch nothing. That's why you have to go where there are fish. The key to successful network marketing or direct sales is that you have to have go where there are a lot of people. Then, you have to find where the fish are hungry. Unsuccessful marketers go to the where there are a lot of people; but people who have no interest (they are not hungry). These marketers then turn into hunters as they start pressuring people who don't want to buy and then those people run away. The marketer just becomes frustrated and then they quit. If that fish isn't hungry, go find the hungry fish. The fish might not be hungry at the time you put your line into the water, but they might be later. Keep that line of communication open, but don't hunt.

Certain fish require certain bait. The successful marketers understand that they are the bait. When you are trying to convince or lead people, you have to understand that they are buying you. They are not buying the product or service, or the company's compensation plan; they are buying into your leadership. You have to credible. You have to be the kind of bait they are looking for.

Step four is you have to work hard. You are going to have to get out there and build your business. Your network marketing or direct sales business may be a flexible business; it may be a lucrative business; but it's still a business. It's not a network marketing vacation, or a network marketing hobby. It takes good old fashion hard work.

Step five is to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. This means building your personal growth and development. You have to grow as a leader and grow your knowledge base. Successful people work hard on their job, don't get me wrong, but they still have to work even harder on themselves. Your business is limited to the size of your own personal growth. Income rarely exceeds personal development.
