Network Marketing Tips: Why you have trouble building your downline.

After the initial fire of emotional excitement and possibility dies down (usually by day 90 in a  new network marketing opportunity), and the boat loads of cash aren't rolling in, a fundamental question arrives: Why doesn't anyone see what I see and how do I find people who will see the potential?  As far as network marketing tips go, these three were the biggest A-ha moments for me.  The principles I'll cover here are:

1. Nobody that ever bought a toaster wanted a toaster.

2. Becoming the hunter vs the hunted

3. Know your target market.

One of the fundamental principles to grasp is one that illustrates the difference between a toaster and toast.  Do you believe that people buy a toaster so that they can have an awful looking chunk of metal perched atop their counter?  Or is it possible that people buy a toaster because they want toast?  Well the answer in nearly every single case will be that people buy a toaster because they want some toast!  Think about how you are presenting your opportunity or product to your prospects.  Are you offering them a toaster (something that just takes up space), or toast (a solution to a need or desire they have)?

Are you the hunter or the hunted?  When Sony releases the newest Playstation, do you think they immediately speak with everyone who will listen about their new product, regardless of their background or level of interest?  No.  They have eager customers rabidly hunting them down, willing to pay ludicrous prices and be thrilled to do it!  Sony has been established as a recognized expert in their field and have a loyal following.  They have positioned themselves in front of a hungry market, they listen intently to the voice of their market, and then they proceed to give their market exactly what the voice says.

Are you in a state of alert awareness, ready to serve prospects as they come to you, since you've intelligently positioned yourself in front of them?  Or are you sitting waiting to pounce on any piece of meat that passes your 'kill zone'?

People love to buy stuff, but they hate to be sold to.

This brings us to our target market.  Who do you serve?  What problem does your product/service/opportunity solve for people?  Are you serving their needs or your needs?  Get over the idea that everybody can use your product.  Maybe they can, but they won't.  As a matter of historical fact, 95% of the prospects you see won't be interested in your primary offer.   What does your perfect target prospect look like? How much money do they make?  Where do they live?  Do they have kids?  Pets?  The more you know about your prospects the easier it will be to find them and communicate with them.  Finding your ideal lead can be time consuming and frustrating and is also the most rewarding.  Imagine always knowing what is on your prospects mind and and how to help them!

Once you know your market, listen to their problems, find the solutions, and then let your market know that you exist and are their to help, you'll find that you need fewer and fewer network marketing tips until you are finally the one giving the tips.  These are time-tested marketing principles that apply to all businesses, not just network marketing.

Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. - I have experience with MLM too. My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.

Once you have spent two years doing the above, then look for a 55 - 60 year old business person that is looking to reduce their time in the business. Then you can work on a sweetheart financing option.
