Two Great Places I Found to Advertise My Home Business for Free
As many of us begin our adventures in network marketing with
a limited budget, I’m sure we are thinking, “Where can I advertise my home
business for free?” This was a
major thought going through my mind when I started my home business, especially
since I had such a limited marketing budget.
My mentors recommended studying the works of people like
Mike Dillard, who is an advocate on the law of attraction. I learned that
instead of promoting my home business, I should focus instead on building up my
personal brand and developing relationships with people by adding value and
finding solutions to their problems. People do business with people, and if you
want to attract them to your business, you need to first establish rapport and
credibility with your prospects. So I had to change my thinking from “Where can
I advertise my home business for free?” to thinking “Where can I brand myself
for free?”
Here are two great places to start if you want to build up
your personal brand, where you can attract people to you and eventually your
business. I’ve included tips on how to best get started and make the most use
of this.
Facebook – After creating your profile, I suggest joining
groups where you think your prospects might be members. For example, if you are
in the network marketing business, do a search on network marketing, and join
one of the many groups that appear on your search.
Once you join, you can connect with members by sending a
friend request. I suggest writing a brief message to them, saying something
like “Hi (first name), we belong to the same group, and I’m interested in
connecting with you to share ideas, exchange information, and see how I can
help you.” However, do not, I repeat, do not pitch your business to people you
are interested in connecting. When they accept your friend request, spend time
getting to know that new friend by asking them about what they do, how their
business is going, etc. Over time, you will understand their needs in greater
detail, and eventually get to the point where you can offer a solution that
your business provides.
Linked In – You can use a similar approach like Facebook.
Join a few groups that are specific to your industry and market. Connect with
people in the group by sending them a private message first using the example
above. Add them to your network once you have their permission. Then ask your
new connections how they are doing and find out if there are any problems or
difficulties they are encountering in their business. Until you have
established a relationship with that contact and fully understand their needs,
do not pitch your business.
Also take a look at the group discussions and make comments
on the article. If you like the article, feel free to connect with the author
and establish a relationship from there.
There are also other ways to brand yourself for free online,
but Facebook and Linked In are great places to start. Make connections with
people, and find out what their needs truly are. People will be attracted to
you, and you can eventually lead them to your business. But before you even
start this, make sure to brainwash yourself with the notion of never pitching
your business without getting to know your new contacts first.
