54% of MLM Twitter Accounts are inactive

The results were shocking to me. Just with Twitter alone, over 54% of MLM accounts have been inactive for over 1 month now. If this does not scream stay away, I don’t know what does.

54% of MLM Twitter Accounts are inactive
After learning why MLM only work for some, I did some research to see if there was a lot of MLM business owners that really did quit there MLM business. The results were shocking to me. Just with Twitter alone, over 54% of MLM accounts have been inactive for over 1 month now. If this does not scream stay away, I don't know what does.
So what I did is very simple, I click on "find people" on my twitter account and reviewed the first 191 accounts (Twitter stopped me after 9 pages) and then counted every account that had been active in the last 48 hours, in the last week, in the last month and last counted the accounts that had not been active in more than a month. Here are my results:
Active Twitter accounts in the last 48 hours: 44 (22%)
Active Twitter accounts in the last week: 20 (11%)
Active Twitter accounts in the last month: 23 (12%)
Inactive Twitter accounts for more than a month: 104 (55%)
The concept of MLM is a very good concept but it does not work in today's economy. There are thousands of MLM created almost every year and for each one of them to be successful and make money is practically impossible.
If you are in a MLM right now, you will understand what I am about say. Do you find yourself having to hold the hand of your reps. a lot so they don't quit. Have you left your MLM to be at the top of another MLM? Have you ever had the person above you quit and take everyone with them at the click of the mouse and leaving you to rebuild everything? Sounds familiar?
Here's what happens, in order to make money with a multi level company you have to be at the top. If you are not, you will only make a few hundred dollars a month if you are lucky. When your rep. realizes that, they will jump ship at the first opportunity so they can be at the top and we already established there are thousands of MLM created almost every year, so it will not be difficult to do they will leave you and take as many people with them as they can. Also what can happen is the company changes the compensation plan and a person above you does not like the change so they leave and them to take as many people as they can with them. And that is not mentioning you still have to spend you $200-$300 a month to stay with the company while you are left to rebuild your entire down line.
If you are thinking about starting an online business and you are considering a MLM, make sure you do your research before joining, that goes for any company you are considering, MLM or not. Being an entrepreneur is exciting at first but if you are not with the right company, you will lose your excitement very quickly. I wish the best of luck in your venture.

- I'm sure in many cases Twitter sends more traffic than Search Engines because most people don't have good enough SE rankings to get SE traffic. But anyone can get Twitter traffic. The problem is that Twitter traffic won't convert for the most part and SE traffic will. I'd venture to say that 98% of the time getting just 100 visitors from search is better than getting 2000+ from Twitter.

- Hi Michelle,
Ah, but it seems hashtags are still being used by a lot of people - including Twitter! So I would still use them for your keywords. It's just that if you are searching for something on Twitter you can either go the #hashtag route, or do a direct search on the Twitter homepage. I guess you could use #hashtags when searching on the Twitter homepage as well!

- Thanks for the feedback guys! I personally started with Twitter and am now moving over to Facebook. I polled people on both my accounts and (not surprisingly) the Twitter people said Twitter and the Facebook people said Facebook!
The actual order of my social media presence looks like this:
1) LinkedIn (with little success)
2) Twitter
3) YouTube
4) Facebook
