Do you have a good Mentor for your Business?

There are many reasons why 97% of new business owners will fail over the next 3 years. Among them you have training, marketing, products, commitments from owner and many others. One reason that does not seem to be mention a lot is the mentor. Is your mentor really being a mentor to you and does he/she really care about your success. Let's find out!!

The definition of a mentor is: Serve as a teacher or trusted counselor. Now a teacher is someone that teaches you the steps that you need to know in whatever you are looking to learn. A counselor is a person that is there to listen to you and provide guidance in your time of need.

Now how does this apply to your business? Most people that start a business have little or no experience at all. Your mentor needs to be there to take you step by step throughout the training program and assure your progression is timely and effective, emphasis on effective. You in return, must be willing to learn and follow instruction.

There are 4 stages in anything you start. The first stage is excitement. Any new business owner is extremely excited to start and open a business. That is just normal. If they are not excited at this point, they should not start. The second stage is excited but starting to see the reality of what they have started. What that means is the challenges they expected or not expected are there and they are starting to confront them. The third stage is when a lot of people quit. They realize that either they are not made to be an entrepreneur or they see how hard it is going to be and pull up their sleeves and go in head first. The last stage is when the success starts to arrive. The mentor needs to be there at each stage as a cheerleader and a guide. If they miss a stage the new business owner risk to get discourage and quit.

Having the right mentor can be critical to your success when you open for business. It does not matter if it is an online business, MLM or a restaurant; make sure you have the right mentor so you are not part of a statistic.

Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - That is a great idea, David. This is what I had in mind for the Women's section, but it makes sense to post in on the main site. Of course, I'm waiting for some women to step up to the plate and share how they could use some support on taking the next step with their business! If you are a Business Woman reading this, I invite you to consider that this is not displaying weakness in any form. Peer mentoring and Coaching is incredibly valuable. You get to bounce your ideas off others, hear perspectives from outside your own box, and feel the power of others cheering you on. To me, it's wisdom to use all of our available resources to move towards business success. That's why I have my own Coach and my own Mentor Coaching Group. I also offer that to my clients. These are services one usually has to pay for and you could enjoy some of it free right here! So who wants to start? Can you tell I'm excited about the possibilities for you even before you begin? Re: Website Name Help Re: Website Name Help - Its good that you have come up with the idea of setting up a website for your business. Now As it is into Business Solutions, I would recommend that you also include this into the name of the website. This will help you getting better results as far as SEO is concerned. You can start building a brand with this name. As you have already got the name booked, you can try changing it to something on the lines of Business Solutions as in azimabusiness or azimabusinesssolutions. Its a long name but still is good from the SEO point.
On Mentors On Mentors - I've been fortunate that in every endevour I've taken on I have found a Mentor within that niche to guide me and help me learn from my mistakes. I've matured so much faster and more focused just by having someone listen to where i am at in my current day and in having someone to be accountable to. I've been blessed by having mentors naturally come into my life but if I wanted to approach one how would I go about developing the relationship and then asking them to mentor me?
