What Does Leadership Mean?

Leadership means having a responsibility that you choose to own for yourself. It’s not responsibility someone else gave to you it’s a responsibility you chose to give yourself. Once you choose to be responsible you in turn become a leader.

Leadership is about being able to create more leadership. If one guy follows you then people are going to follow him, obviously if you are a leader yourself you are also following some one so all leaders come from the same place.

Leadership the is ability to create more leaders. The better your leadership the more leaders you create and the better the world is for it, trust me.

Leadership is also the ability to see things others can’t. The visions of leaders always have and always will shape the world. Christopher Columbus had a vision of another world and even though many doubted him and criticized him he was still a leader. He led all of us to a wonderful abyss of freedom we call America. The land of amazing opportunity found nowhere else in this lonely world in this lonely universe.

The problem with today’s society is that leadership is actually a threat. When someone stands out and is different they are outcast because they don’t blend in. Leaders don’t blend it, leaders stand out.

Leaders have an opinion and they stick to it. Leaders don’t compromise and leaders don’t loose focus. I read a really good quote the other day that made me stop dead in my tracks and think about it, for like five minutes, it was incredible how these few short words could have such an impact on me.

The quote was “There goes the crowd, I must follow them for I am their Leader.”

Leaders don’t just lead from the front they lead from all angles. They push, they pull they tug from the sides. Leaders just do whatever it takes to get results. They are the problem solvers of our mother Earth.

Leaders are people who other people seek out for answers. Sometimes, though, what people seek in a leader is not necessarily an answer but a conclusion to a situation. Sometimes they’re just looking for someone to make an important decision and leaders have always been trusted to do important things such as make decisions.

A leader will always have an answer even if there’s no answer.

A leader’s answers aren’t just something they appear to him out of thin air. All of his answers he found himself and know to be true. His answers aren’t just something he’s heard that he’s decided that he’ll call the truth.

A leader’s job is always hard because he first has to find the wisdom and the failures that help him learn what he needs to know to be able to be a valuable person to society to whom we may seek wisdom from. Wisdom is not given, it is earned on our own. Leaders are wise by their own hand.

Leadership is not necessarily about having power. There are people who have power that have no leadership skills what so ever. Bless their hearts though they do try. Being a Leader means being happy with the life he has chosen because that’s the life he has consciously chose for his own.

A leader is never quiet he always contributes, maybe it’s not the best contribution but an offering, none the less. The more you try to contribute the better your contributions will get over time.

A leader knows that his contributions are the only source of income because he will get rewarded for his efforts.

A leader never contributes with the intention of receiving something back. A leader is humble and has an open mind.

A leader can have a conversation with anyone and make it pleasant.

The most important thing to remember is that leaders are not born. Leaders are made. Come join our amazing almost magical community devoted to developing leadership where we will personally mold you in to the leader you deserve to be and the leader your family deserves to have. The world needs your help. All you need to have at this moment in time is the decision to go forward and change your life. I’ll see you on the other side. Peace.

Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - Hi Everyone, Gosh, I REALLY appreciate your concrete feedback. This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out. Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey! It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap! As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers! What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is. Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is. In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level? Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message. I got more than I bargained for in this Spotlight... you generously offered way more than I was asking. I think we could be on to something great for the Forum. Now it's time to let someone else have the spotlight. It would be great if everyone took a turn! In gratitude, Tami

Why A Project Fails? Why A Project Fails? - Hello Everyone As the size and complexity of ones business grows, so does their need to effectively manage projects. I have been thinking about the major reasons why a project can go wrong and my limited experience comes up with the following. 1 Leadership: A project manager with leadership skills and not just management skills. 2 Failure to (Foresee and) Plan 3 Failure to Manage: Ineffective change management control methods. Unclear decision making guidelines. 4 Talent: Finding, allocating and developing people 5 Scope: Setting an overly ambitious or amibigious project scope 6 Alignment: When projects are not prioritized in alignment with the business strategy, or project members personal objectives are not in tandem with that of the project / company 7 Lack of Candor: Communication Breakdowns I would be interested in knowing everyone's thoughts on this, especially on ways to overcome the above mentioned obstacles. Cheers!
