Don't Wish It Were Easier, Wish You Were Better Like The Water Hyacinth

The 'Slight Edge' principle is illustrated in this story about the amazing duplication powers of The Water Hyacinth.

The Water Hyacinth is a beautiful plant, with delicate leaves that you will find floating on the surface of ponds in warm climates around the world, it reproduces by doubling itself and sending out short runner stems that then become daughter plants.

If the surface of the pond remains still and undisturbed it may cover the entire surface of the pond in just 30 days, this phenomenon has astonished botanists and ecologists for years.

On the first day you won't even notice it, on day fifteen it may be about on foot square, and on day twenty, two thirds of the way through the month it may be the size of a child's mattress floating on the surface. On day twenty nine half the surface of the pond is still open water, but by day thirty the entire pond has been covered by a blanket of Water Hyacinth. You will not see any water at all.

The water hyacinth has applied the 'Slight Edge' principle to covering the pond. We can apply this same principle in our businesses by taking those simple actions every day that compounded over time leads to success in for example: on-line marketing and we get to the coveted first page of 'Google' and make lots of sales. This is achievable for all, but so often people give up if it doesn't work quickly enough for them. You may not see the results today or tomorrow but if you just stay in the process your success will come.

Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? - Actually PR (Page Rank) is not very important at all these days. The only real exception is if you are trying to sell links. But it definitely doesn't hurt to have it. If all other things are equal then the higher PR site will rank higher. However, it's not very important for the most part. But if you do want to increase it then all you have to do is get more backlinks from sites with higher PR. Easier said than done but that's how you do it.
Re: Who hates cold calling? - I saw this and had to chime in. I HATE COLD CALLS. lol its terrible and a wast of my time. Something i have done is gotten online and found all the networking event happening in my area for the next 2 months and i try and go to about 3 a week. Even just for an hour. Dont bring any business cards. Just meet new people ask them alot about what they do, not too much about what i do and follow up the next day or 2. Has worked well
