• Video sites get great traffic. Try to do at least 3 videos per week and distribute them through Traffic Geyser, a subscription well worth its price.
• Articles are free and a simple way of sharing what you know. Distribute your article through various Article sites. Article submission software can save you loads of distribution time.
• Create press releases about your company and spread them virally.
• SEO is a great way of bringing in the traffic. The more backlinks you have on your site the more search engine traffic you will attract. Social Networking sites are a great way to get massive traffic to your site. These sites are only getting bigger in popularity and are also big with the search engines.
• Take part in online discussions, or internet forums. Place valuable content on topics that you are involved with. Post the link to your blog in the forum.
• Submit your blog to web directories. Also, get traffic to your blog with voting sites such as top100bloggers, blogtoplist and blogger choice awards.
• Comment on other blogs. This will bring you a blog link and also encourage comments to your blog.Advertise on free classified sites such as craigslist, inetgiant or backpage.
• Create viral eBooks and submit your eBook to many eBook sites and get backlinks from the sites to increase traffic.

These strategies are a sure way to increase traffic at a zero or low cost. A good idea for newer marketers to begin their marketing strategy with these tips until you have earned enough profit to invest into some paid advertising.

I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!
Re: Alexa Ranking Goals - LOL, I spoke too soon. Within a few hours of my post, Alexa updated the Traffic Rank on the toolbar. Note however that the 3 month Traffic Rank on Alexa.com has still not been updated...

Such as: - Relying on keyword metatags - Purchase Links (From Spamming or blacklisted sites or doing purchase links on high level for site marketing) - Horde Page Rank: This is one of my favorites, because it's one that most webmasters don't understand yet. This is because it changed over the past year or two. The concept people have in their mind is that page rank is a key part of site rankings and linking to other sites "leaks page rank" from your site. However, the world has changed. - Swap Links: Another oldie, but not goodie. Search engines want links to represent endorsements. Swapped links represent barter, and they are trivial to detect. Don't swap links for the purpose of building page rank. It's a waste of your time - Implement duplicate content - Use Session IDs on your URLs - Use lots of Javascript - Implement your site in Flash
