An online business, like any other business requires traffic in order to make money. More traffic means more potential customers. The number 1 thing on your 'to do' list when owning a website is to make sure it ranks well with the search engines.

SEO is one of the most important marketing strategies for your online business because of its cost effectiveness and user reach. To get your business in the top 10 of the first page of search engines should be your goal. Visitors should be able to find your website online in easy reach so they can achieve their goal and you, achieve your objective.

An effective but costly way to achieve this is by PPC (pay per click). This is when you agree to pay the search enginesa certain amount for every click received by the site through sponsored ads. When a visitor clicks on the ad, the search engine demands money and the visitor is directed to your website. The more clicks the more outlay for you, and the price per click varies dramatically.

However, there is an alternative way of organic ranking to generate publicity involving long term profits through higher ranking. Your website should be working hard for you, with proper optimization and using of keywords. Optimization is needed to make the site highly relevant for specific search terms. So, identify the relevant keywords and use them properly. It is essential to use the keywords amongst the main body of the web pages and in the alt-text in your images. The keywords should also be used naturally to attract more clicks.

In order to create more business opportunities you need to create maximum links to your website. Search engines rank websites on the basis of thenumber of back-links created by them. These back-links should be from specifically related websites. SEO work regularly on the desired website optimization for higher ranking in search engines.

Maximize your potential by mastering SEO strategies and you are well on your way to online business success and the high traffic to your website that you desire.

Apologies for my absence... - Hi everyone- Boy, is it good to be back. I apologize for my absence, and missed everyone alot, but I was really quite ill. What started out as what I thought was just a head cold just got worse and worse until I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. I have asthma, so an illness like pneumonia triggers the asthma and makes it 100 times worse. Pnuemonia makes it darn near impossible to keep the asthma under control an when you can't breath, your hospital bound. I am much better and home now. I hope all is well with everyone and I will poke around for a while to see what I've missed. Well, i'll be seeing you all around the board!
Marketing vs Web Optimizers vs Usability - Hi BigJim22, I must be honest - I haven't really read a lot of Seth's articles on web site strategies. What I have found though is that there always seems to be a three way conflict between marketing ideas, SEO strategies and usability issues when doing web development. The secret is to balance between the ideal situation for each of these. Since a website needs to be found, visited and acted upon we need a strong combination of marketing, SEO and usability to be successful. It's something we struggle with constantly at Last Minute Training and I'm sad to say - we still haven't found the right combination.
