How To Win Over Your Prospects

Many Network Marketers and MLM distributors are fearful of using the telephone to make contact with interested prospects. Why is this? Fear of rejection is usually the number one reason for not talking to people on the phone. So how can you get rid of this fear, it is a real issue in many cases, and often is the difference between success or failure for many. How many of you struggle to keep the recruits you do manage to get over the phone? There seems to be a high turnover rate for people joining home business opportunities, and this can and does affect your income in your business.

Many would argue that if you recruited the right people in the first place, they would stick around longer. Others would argue that if you took the time to know the person you are recruiting, building rapport and identifying whether their ideals ‘fit' with your business, this would give you a better success and retention rate.

Let's get back to winning over your prospects. If you were working for a telesales agency, you would be given a list of people to phone and try to sell them something, be it insurance, completing a survey online etc. If you were being paid for this, how many of you would forget your fear and pick up that telephone. Remember each phone call that is successful means commission for you.

So, with that in mind, using the same analogy, your business is the telesales agency, and yes, you get paid commission for each sale you make, the difference is it is all profit for you, you are the boss. How many of you would now go out there and call your leads confidently knowing that each sale is commission for your business. Seems simple doesn't it, but I know that there is a minefield of emotion that has to be overcome.

How we perceive ourselves is key to how others perceive us. Outwardly we must appear confident, knowledgeable, and appear to be a strong leader, remember prospects want to join someone with strong leadership skills.

Another way to get over your fear is to look at it this way, prospects have left their name and number for you to call them. This is not some ‘cold' list you purchased. Through what ever method of advertising you brought these prospects to you. They liked what you presented to them and want to find out more. You are in charge here, they want to hear what you have to say. Preparation is key to success, we have all heard this saying before, and it really is. Prepare what you are going to say and how you are going to say it. If you prospects have left you some information about themselves, study this, is there anything you can read between the lines? Find out their ‘likes', build rapport with them, try to get to know their personality and importantly what is it that they want out of what you have to offer them.

There are so many techniques taught on how to handle different forms of rejection and turn them around to your advantage, how to get people to purchase from you even though they didn't join your main opportunity, how to successfully sponsor professionals way above your current league. I say current because in the not to distant future you will be on an equal level as your confidence and your business grows.

Self development helps us to overcome most of our fears, and a great ebook and course to help improve your telephone and face to face sponsoring is BlackBelt Recruiting by Mike Dillard . Now Mike Dillard has been in the MLM industry for a while and the first 6 years were not very successful for him, he just didn't seem to crack the code. Seems familiar? Then he joined a Network Marketing Business and had a strong mentor, under whose guidance he began to finally crack the code, and for the first time began to make serious money. Mike decided to share that detail of how he changed his thinking, his whole way of looking at recruiting and sales and has never looked back since.

I hope you have found this useful. It took me 5 years in the MLM industry to finally work out what I was doing wrong or missing out on I should say, because I felt I was following everything my mentor said, but somehow didn't seem to make much money. I seemed to spend more that I made. I have sinced moved my business to a new Network Marketing Company and since doing so over the last 14 months have begun to earn a steady income at last. So, Network Marketing and MLM marketing do work, but having the right guidance and getting the right information to go out there and make your business grow is essential.

To your success

Simple way to avoid Cold Calling Simple way to avoid Cold Calling - Gary, A chiropractor I work with hates cold calling (me too!) and he uses a technique to warm people up to using his services - it's so simple! In Sales your dealing with 3 pools of people: 1. Strangers 2. Prospects 3. Returning Customers You need to move people from one pool to the next. We'll concentrate on #1 and #2 as it's most relevant to your question. My Clients does the following (you just have to tailor it to your situation - be creative). My Client (we'll call him Bob) Bob leverages his time and resources to only get people that need his offer (pain relief) to put their hand up. Dealing with Strangers can get expensive and they don't like to be told what to do as they have no trust or relationship built with him. So to get Strangers to put their hands up he writes up an offer with a free report on a particular pain relief - let's say lower back pain (note: he can simply just change lower back pain to neck pain and have a new report). and uses multiple marketing vehicles to promote the Free report - magazines, newspaper, forums, postcards, private clinics etc. The only people picking up this information are the very people Bob would like as customers as they have Lower back pain. Bob's Free report ends with him stating his services and includes a Free in-house Consultation with no obligation. You'd be surprised at how easily Bob converts Strangers into Prospects. Note: They become prospects when they ask for the Free Guide and in exchange provide their contact details. This gives Bob unlimited opportunity to contact them for the Free in-house consultation with no obligation to continue using him. At this stage Bob's ability to close the sale lies in his office providing good customer service, Bob's ability to help the prospect and provide value at the free in-house consultation. Notice, he hasn't had to pick up the phone to COLD-CALL his Stranger pool or his Prospect pool. Hope that example helps to increase your prospecting!
Pitch Like A Girl: How a Woman Can Be Herself and Still Succ Pitch Like A Girl: How a Woman Can Be Herself and Still Succ - Pitch Like A Girl: How a Woman Can Be Herself and Still Succeed Ronna Lichtenberg 2005 From the inside cover: "As a woman, you probably feel uncomfortable when it comes to promoting yourself and asking for what you want." WHAT IN THE HECK IS THIS, I asked myself when I read that. Women are the fastest growing business owners in the US and Canada, there are t housands of women executives and CEOs - though not as many as might be expected, admittedly, yet the book opens with this surely out of date stereotype. However, as she continued to give examples of women who had high paying jobs but were routinely not paid as much as men because it hadn't occurred to them to ask for raises, etc., I decided it was probably true for a majority of businesswomen... Anyway, more of the info from the jacket: "Other books have told you how to get what you want by being more like a guy. Pitch Like A Girl tells you why its an advantage to be who you are and how to do better by bringing more of yourself to work." The TOC: 1. Pink and Blue 2. The Quck-dry Chapter 3. What's In your head that's not in his 4. The Me, Inc Mindset 5. Visioning: Discover What You Really Want 6. Identifying Prospects 7. Pre-pitch homework and heartwork 8. Crafting the pitch 9. Pricing the pitch 10. Packaging the pitch 11. Delivering the pitch 12. Closing Conclusion A Word to the guys The Empathy Quotient The Systemizing Quotient Bibliography And on a side note - non-fiction books without indexes - of which this is one, annoy me.
