Create a Dashboard to Make Your Life More Productive

Tick ... tick ... tick ... as time marches on, you still can't find enough time? You know the mantra that "time is money"; some will even say that "time is time and money is money."

No matter which mantra you subscribe to, learn how to maximize your time, even your personal time, and achieve peak productivity by using these disciplined productivity strategies and many of the new web services dashboards that can cover every aspect of your life.

You can essentially hire a robo-accountant by using a personal finance manager from Mint dot com. Around since 2007, this personal finance manager shows all the money you make, all that you spend, and how you can handle it better. You begin by entering all the info for your bank accounts, loans, credit cards, and various investments. As you use your credit card and take care of bills, the amount you pay is assigned to a category so you know where your money is going. Numerous other features include simple graphs and upload of cash purchases using a smart phone app.

Next, you can replace that inbox (or shoebox) that is overflowing with bills, frequent flyer updates, magazine subscriptions, and other boring but important pieces of information by using an automatically "sort the mail" tool from Manilla dot com. This tool gives you a great visual snapshot of a Bill Reminder, when your frequent-flier miles expire, when your magazine subscriptions are due, as well as product warranties.

Another major hassle is watching expiration dates and daily deal sites so keep your coupons in order by using a tool from CityPockets dot com. This tool lists your vouchers from any of the 30 major sites like Groupon, Living Social, and others in one place. Expiration dates for all those deals are prominently displayed and email alerts are sent before they spoil. Expect to see in the Fall of 2011, new versions of the mobile apps that will allow you to buy coupons for nearby deals.

You can learn how to understand those baffling medical bills and decrease health care costs by using a tool from Simplee dot com. It shows you charges, in a neat format, that are the same for every bill regardless of health care provider. It helps you understand what is covered by your plan versus what should be out-of-pocket expenses, how many appointments each family member has had, and what doctors are charging in total.

What dashboard services like Simplee and Mint do for bills and finances, you can use a tool from Avado dot com to aggregate your medical records and keep track of health-care related appointments, lab results, immunizations, medications, and allergies.

Finally, just like the fuel gauge in your car showing how much fuel you have in your tank, these dashboards can help you see how close you are getting to empty. Email alerts can serve as a kind of "check engine" light warning you about upcoming bills, doctor appointments, and expiring subscriptions and coupons. The messages you get about avoidable penalties, nasty finance charges, and astronomical interest rates can help you keep money in the bank. They are your collision-avoidance system.

None of these dashboards covers every aspect of your life and signing up for all of them could be overwhelming. Depending on where you most need help, be strategic and pick or more of these services to sort through your biggest piles of paperwork.

Exceptional success in any business is the result of strategically directing ever-increasing amounts of your time to the activities you are very good at and very excited about. Learn to use these dashboards for your personal life so you can grow your business by directing increasing amounts of your time to those highest value activities and responsibilities of only the very best business opportunities.

However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. regards, Mal.

Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth - [quote="Tami Szabo":292ze3jd]People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
Re: Finding AND Keeping Good People Re: Finding AND Keeping Good People - Employee retention or as you mention “Keeping the Good People” is one of the biggest challenges for any growing business. It takes a huge effort from the entrepreneur’s end. I can come up with the following when it comes to KEEPing the good people- 1. Motivation of the employees 2. Recognition of the needs of the employees 3. Activities to make the employees feel valuable towards the organization 4. Make benefits more accessible 5. Offer profit sharing incentives 6. Create clear career paths at the company 7. Consider telecommuting, job sharing and other flexible working arrangements 8. Incentives are essential and they don't have to be huge 9. Have other managers praise an employee's work 10. Be sensitive to the balance between work and private life
