Get Backlinks from Relevant Sites to be No 1 on Google

If you think your site is performing pretty well on the search engines, take a closer look as all links are not equal.

PageRank is an important part of Google's ranking algorithm.

The higher your PageRank, the higher your site will be ranked.

The PageRank within your Web site is increased by pages from other sites linking to it and the higher the PageRank of those pages linking to your site, the better it is for your site.

Here is a site with a lot of advice on SEO and search marketing with a brief introduction to Link Popularity and Keyword Verification. The site is Marketleap.

The number of websites that link to your website is one of the factors that help search engines determine your relevancy for a search term. Link popularity and gaining new links, from outside websites to your website, have proven to be a popular concept for people seeking to improve their search engine rankings.

Search engines have also begun to rank the importance of the sites that link to you. This means if the New York Times links to your site, your credibility is higher than if Joe's Online Newspaper provides a link to your website. Search engines also consider the text contained in the link that is pointing to your website. If the text in the links contains keywords you are trying to compete for, the search engines consider your site to have even greater credibility.

Once you start to get inbound links, it is worth your time to see how many Web sites link to you and who they are. It is also a great idea to use the tool to test your competitor's site and determine who is linking to their site. It would be a good idea to contact those sites and ask them to link to you as it is likely that those Web sites will link to you as they have already proven to be link givers.

With respect to keyword verification ... use the tool at marketleap to check quickly whether your site can be found on the major search engines in relation to the keyword or phrase being used in your search. If you are not ranked within the first three pages, you are essentially not ranked and your site is invisible to users. Perform this test, for each keyword or keyword phrases, for the top 2 or 3 search engines and keep track of the search results. Run the test every month so that as you take action and implement SEO activities, you will see marked improvement.

Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.

Believe it or not, there are Web sites out there that actively want links to your site. Type in one of your keywords or phrases and then type "add URL". You will be presented with numerous Web sites that related to your keyword and accept URL submissions. This is a time-consuming exercise. Some sites will want reciprocal links in exchange, some will want to charge you, and some just will not work. Ignore all sites except those sites that will allow you to add your URL with no strings attached. Within 72 hours the number of inbound links will begin to rise and if any of those linking sites has a high PageRank, you should notice an increase in your own rank the next the Googlebot pays a visit. This is how to get backlinks from relevant sites to be No 1 on Google.

In order to help you, I will continue to provide articles with tips and techniques I have obtained and learned from My Go-To-Market Partners as I became an Internet Entrepreneur and built my online business, along with my various Web 2.0 properties and affiliate web sites. How Do You Check Google Ranking? How Do You Check Google Ranking? - Now that Google is so responsive to your own search history, how can you get a good idea of what your Google ranking really is for your web pages? Whenever I check my ranking for specific keywords on Google, my web pages appear on the front page, or suspiciously high. My way around this is to check Google ranking via other computer Internet links, i.e., whenever I'm working in a library I will use a library computer to check. I check Google ranking before logging into my Gmail or other Google-related accounts. Does anybody else have any other tips for discovering your Google ranking? Re: Keyword Selection Re: Keyword Selection - [quote="JackieGold":1rhnmgte]This is really important - it can be easy to get lost in how well you are ranking for certain keywords and lose sight of the fact that those keywords aren't even pertinent to your business.[/quote:1rhnmgte] Hi Jackie, That is definitely something to look out for. I have seen many times where people are ranking in the top 3 for a particular keyword, and they're very excited. However, after taking a look, that keyword either gets no traffic (or very little) or is irrelevant to their site. Relevant keywords that get a decent monthly search volume are the ones to go after.
