How to Dodge the Obamacare Bullet to Save Money and Have Better Healthcare

As politics continue to destroy our medical choices and swamp America's medical system, it is time to begin thinking ahead for a way to side-step Obamacare and have access to basic healthcare.

This post will provide five alternative strategies as a practical way to bypass the long lines for medical rationing and dodge the Obamacare bullet.

Strategy 1. Get Better Value and Convenience using Cash Only Doctors.

The federal healthcare takeover will worsen the primary care physician shortage that exists today, as 14 million new people become taxpayer funded patients by 2014. Finding a good doctor at an affordable price is therefore an important matter.

Some doctors do not accept insurance or Medicare. Some may have a hybrid practice where they will accept insurance but you have to do the legwork to claim reimbursement. You can find anything from primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and even surgeons who fit this model.

Cash-only doctors can also afford to spend more time with each patient and focus on their care without interference from bureaucrats or insurance executives. Plus, they are free to work as doctors and not as intermediaries between patients and insurance companies.

You can look for cash-only doctor locally on your own atsimplecare.

Strategy 2. Membership Has Its Privileges using Concierge Medicine.

Concierge or direct primary care practices use a membership based approach to comprehensive and preventive care on demand. In 2005, only 500 practices followed this structure; today over 5,000 do.

You pay a monthly fee, sometimes as low as $49 and benefit from unrestricted access to your doctor. You can use the services as much or as little as you want. Many practices are open seven days a week, offer same day, or next day, appointments and some memberships include house calls or physicians on call by phone and email around the clock.

Doctors save on overhead by eliminating insurance claims and it also allows them to provide quality service to only a few hundred patients a year - compared to the thousands of patients needed in a high volume insurance or Medicare dependent practice.

This means your office visit is not rushed, you do not waste time in the waiting room, and your appointment can last half an hour or longer directly with your doctor. More time equals better health for you.

Strategy 3. Decrease Your Wait Time and Incur Less Cost using Urgent Care Centers.

People can literally die while waiting to be seen by a doctor. If you are in severe discomfort or pain, consider rushing to your local Urgent Care center instead of a typically backlogged hospital.

In addition, many people do not realize Urgent Care centers have convenient hours and can handle many routine medical concerns from fractures, STDs, and flu, to vaccinations, annual physicals, and more.

Urgent care centers tend to offer services for much less than hospital emergency rooms. And as suggested earlier, if you are paying cash, you can negotiate for better rates.

There are approximately 8,700 urgent care centers nationwide. They are easily found online or in your phone book.

Strategy 4. Treat Minor Ailments in Retail Stores using Convenient Care Clinics.

Convenient care clinics, also called retail clinics, are located inside big box retail stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies. You can get a prescription quickly and take advantage of health screenings, preventive care, or vaccinations while doing the household shopping.

These clinics are growing in popularity because of their convenient hours and the quick, affordable care for routine ailments they provide. They are typically staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Sometimes doctors are also on staff to treat typical illnesses such as ear infections and minor injuries.

You can find a convenient care clinic at select Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Target, Safeway, and Kroger stores.

Strategy 5. Get Cured Outside the USA using Medical Tourism.

American medical tourists seek treatments not fully covered by their insurance or take advantage of lower costs for dental care and cosmetic surgery. The advantages of foreign medical services are numerous. The cost savings make medical tourism a feasible alternative for the uninsured and often as well for insured patients who run into coverage limits, high co-pays / co-insurance, denials, and other brick walls.

How medical tourism will change when Obamacre overtakes the medical system is not known but it could very well grow in popularity. What we may see are more Americans looking abroad for quality care at world-class centers in India, Thailand, Mexico, or Singapore because they do not want to wait to receive service in the US; such is the case for many Canadians who come to America for medical treatment despite having universal medical care at home.

You can learn more about your options for medical tourism atmedicaltourismassociation.

When Obamacare takes full effect, let's hope these surviving components of free market medicine are not squashed or outlawed under the false pretense of fairness. For the time being, you can exercise your free choice in medical self-reliance by knowing about and possibly adding the flexible options above ... in addition most of us still need to take steps to improve our health and many desire to slow aging to the extent we can and to live longer.

As mentioned in a previous posts on this blog, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent at CNN, has reported that "Practical Immortality may now be within our grasp."

So now the question becomes, "how do we slow the rate of aging and avoid the frailty that would make longevity less desirable?"

With antioxidant supplements, we can slow our rate of aging; with a nutrition and fitness routine, we can avoid frailty and improve our health; and with an industry leading home business opportunity, we can make great money and generate financial wealth.

Possibilities abound! Possibilities abound! - Hey All, Ok, I am now in a position to see something profound. I've been involved in the automotive field as a hobbyist for years. My first car as a 1974 Dodge Charger SE. 318, dual exchause, 340 cam, black with black leather interior (yes, it was 10 deg hotter INSIDE that outside during the summer...). Moved onto a 1972 Dodge Dart. 4 door, slant six motor (upgraded to a Super Six), manual drum brake, manual steering, V8 Leaf springs, Rallye Rims. Then onto a 1987 Plymouth Caravelle. 2.2 Turbo, 14psi (approx 180HP), painted like a Viper GTS (Blue with two white stripes), in fact, I called it a Caravelle GTS. The car was fun and taught me lots about 'modern' engines and turbos. I've recently met someone who make a performance intake valve (the part that lets the gas/air mixture into the engine) and I am seriously impressed with the product. I am working a deal to get a set installed on a vehicle to have some hard data for results. He wants me to be a distributor for him after we spoke on the phone for an hour about cars and life. Seriously considering it. I also then spoke with another company that makes performance parts for turbo cars (allowed my Caravelle to go from 145HP to 180HP) to talk about being a channel for his valves. He is interested and also having some problems. These are 'good' problems for an entrepreneur to have though. See, his company started as a hobby and is now taking up a lot of his casual time (he has a day job). He doesn't want to take it to a full-time job as he simply wants to enjoy the sport. He is considering selling it. Now, to add into this mix a 3rd company that both of the above ones do business with and compliment each other very nicely. This 3rd company is 'bigger' than both as they are more of a retailer with more products (main stream with all three is turbo-related with a heavy slant towards Dodge vehicles). When I sat there looking at all 3 sites in Firefox (loved tabbed browsing!) I got this giddy and excited feeling that there is a Severe opportunity to make one large combined company all marketed under one brand. I can see it, I can feel it, I can freaking smell it. I have no way to execute it. So, my question to the community is where to start? I have always been a car enthusiast, in fact, much longer than I've played with computers. To me, this is an awesome chance to bring another passion of mine to life and help everyone in the hobby field at the same time! I am at the mercy of my peers for direction.
Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
Making Money in 2011 Making Money in 2011 - Hello forum members! As we draw closer to the new year I thought it would be appropriate to change the title of our forum category "Making Money in 2010" to "Making Money in 2011" - I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and wish everyone a prosperous New Year!
QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? - I have always used Microsoft Money to run my business - accounting, invoicing, etc. It came with my computer when I got it and integrated well with my online banking system so everything is a breeze. It only takes 30-60 minutes every quarter to do the bookkeeping (keep in mind that I have a very simple business - no inventory, very little invoicing, I do all my payments by credit card, etc). Is QuickBooks or Money the best accounting tool for small business owners? Or is there something even better?
Re: Are you satisfied with your ISP's services? Re: Are you satisfied with your ISP's services? - The same in my case my ISP holds my phone number. What i don't like is that if i have a technical problem the process take to much time and they will never hurry up to solve the problem. Save God this it not happening to often. Another think that bugs me is the advertising .... to many offers and advertisements that are annoying people.
