Monitor Your Page Rank on all the Major Search Engines to be No 1 on Google

One of the problems with Search Engine Optimization and particularly with Google is that it is a constantly changing phenomenon.

As soon as too many people get wind of a certain facet or strategy that is working to get high page rankings, Google eventually will get the idea and alter its algorithm accordingly.

For a web business owner, it becomes a constant game of cat and mouse, forever searching for the latest techniques to beat, or utilize, the system to be No 1 on Google.

So it is best to stay on your toes and look out-of-the-box, meaning outside of your website, content, and SEO techniques, to learn how others see you and what you can do to increase your page rank to be No 1 on Google.

Here are two simple, easy, and quick steps related to an online directory and other search engines to be No 1 on Google.

The Open Directory Project, also known as DMOZ, is a very unassuming website in cyberspace that carries a tremendous amount of weight. Its unique selling proposition is that it is human-powered and not software-driven. It does not employ spiders to scan the web but waits for you to submit your URL. It then assigns an editor to manually check your listing and then, assuming you have added yourself correctly to the category, you will be listed in DMOZ.

A successful listing on DMOZ creates two important links to a website. One link to your website is from DMOZ and the other link is from the Google Directory. Both DMOZ and Google have very high Page Rank. By benefiting from the thousands of links created by all the websites that are using the DMOZ directory, it becomes obvious why a listing in DMOZ is so important. It is often the case that a DMOZ listing alone will raise your Page Rank by one or two places!

Also, monitor Searchenginewatch where you will get the truth, or at least a truth, about what is going on in the world of search engine marketing. It is a website that is a meeting place for webmasters and website owners to discuss their experiences and concerns about search engine marketing and promotion. You can monitor the latest findings regarding every major search engine and how it relates to your website.

All of the other search engines have undergone a face-lift recently. They include Bing, AltaVista, and Ask. For example, Bing now promotes itself as fast, efficient, and painfully accurate. Microsoft claims that its technology is unique. The key takeaway is that if a website ranks high on Bing it will most likely rank high on Google.

Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.

Make it your job today to get on DMOZ and submit your URL. Read the submission guidelines and choose your category wisely to avoid unnecessary delays. Also, if a site does well on Google it tends to do well on all the other search engines. Check your ranking on the other sites. Do you really rank the same, or better, on the other major search engines? Although Google should be your benchmark, do not neglect Google's competition. This is how to be No 1 on Google.

In order to help you, I will continue to provide tips and techniques I have obtained and learned from My Go-To-Market Partners as I became an Internet Entrepreneur and built my online business, along with my various Web 2.0 properties and affiliate web sites. Together, these tips will provide a traffic formula that will improve your Page Ranking and drive qualified leads to your website.

Page Rank Changes Page Rank Changes - Hi Kevin - there is a lot of speculation as to why so many websites lost Page Rank. A few new sites that I've been following also got Page Rank for the first time. Every time Google does a Page Rank update there are websites that get caught in the crossfire and have to work to get their rankings back up!
Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? - After re-reading through the posts in this thread it seems to me like there might be a little confusion as to what Page Rank (PR) really is. For those who don't know... PR is a number between 1 and 10 that Google assigns to a web page based on it's importance. With 10 being the highest and most important. It's mainly determined by the number and quality of inbound links to the web page but there are other factors as well. It is NOT the ranking your site has in the Google search engine or any other search engine. If you are ranked #3 on google for "home business" that does not mean you have a PR of 3. They are completely separate things. Furthermore, PR does not determine how high a site ranks in the search engines. It's possible and very common for a site with a low PR to outrank and site with a higher PR for the same keyword phrase. If you want to raise your PR then you need more backlinks. Higher PR backlinks will pass more link juice to you and help raise it much easier. On that same note, if you want to increase your search engine rankings for a particular keyword then you also need more backlinks with the keyword you are targeting as the anchor text. When it comes to that, Page Rank and Search Engine Ranking Positions are very similar but that is it. People often think that they need high PR to get good search engine rankings and it is not true. They also tend to think that just because a site has high PR then it is better than a site with lower PR, that is also not always the case. One final thing about this is that the PR you see on your Google Toolbar for a web page only updates a few times per year and is not necessarily the actual PR for that page. The actual PR is stored at Google and is updated constanty, and is not shown to the public. Only they know what it really is. I hope that clears up some common misconceptions about Google Page Rank (PR).
www.tobuso.com and www.paperrollshop.com www.tobuso.com and www.paperrollshop.com - Please take a look at these and tell me what I should do. I am too close to them to see it objectively at this point. The main on is the tobuso.com one. The other is just a paper roll side bar project. I have had a guy working on tobuso.com for about 2 weeks or so. I really dont understand why it doesnt have any Google Page Rank yet. I am starting to move up in the rankings for my targeted keyword but I am lacking in the google Page Rank and cannot figure out why. I guess it may just take more time. See if that is what it looks like to you.
Re: Search Engine Optimization Re: Search Engine Optimization - [quote="Shimmy":ivyrc6ii]Just curious as to what others are doing to optimize their websites. I have received a page rank 5 from google which is very good in my line of business in comparison to my competition. I am still not coming close to being on the first page for main key word searches though, even though all of the websites ahead of me have a smaller page rank. Does anyone know how this works and what I can focus on? Thanks![/quote:ivyrc6ii] Your Page Rank has little or no effect on your actual search engine rankings ( ie SERPS) Search gives give high PR to websites with BULK of back links, whereas they grant higher rankings to those websites which get good links from related WEBSITES. You need to decide yourself whether you indend to increase the GREEN BAR of Page Rank, or your actual Search engine rankings.
How to get Page Rank How to get Page Rank - Google won't reward you with Page Rank if you're not getting links for your site so it looks like the work you're putting in is paying off - congrats!
