Set Realistic Page Ranking Goals to be No 1 on Google

Many aspire to be number 1 on Google. They think their prospects sit down in front of their computer and are typing words like "toys" or "painter" or "vitamins" or "make money" in to their online search hoping they will obtain the expected results.

This type of thinking positions online business owners to market and sell what they think are mainstream and blockbuster products and services. They put in a lot of effort and money to get found but have little success because they are in market segments that are highly competitive, crowded, and have low profit margins.

The highly qualified leads, your cash cows, aren't the random Internet surfers that type in "toys" or "painter" or "vitamins" or "make money". Your paying customers are the Internet users that are more specific and more targeted than that. They are after a particular item or service, often thought of as a niche, or more targeted, offering.

For example, if I need a hand-tied bouquet of flowers delivered by 10am tomorrow in New York City, I don't care who gets the business as long as they deliver.

So, if you are a florist in Manhattan, you would be far better optimizing your web site so that you become number 1 on the Google search results page for flower bouquet next day Manhattan ... these are the more specific key words that your customers are using to find a specific product or service. These are the phrases that should be leading prospects to you.

There is a whole discipline around the Web's economic shift away from mainstream, one-size-fits-all, markets versus narrow and targeted markets with niche goods and services. These groundbreaking idea are described by Chris Anderson in his book The Long Tail and are critically important for Internet Marketers.

Our culture and economy is increasingly shifting away from a focus on a relatively small number of blockbuster hits to a huge number of niches.

The riches are in the niches.

Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.

Determine what words and phrases your customers are using to find you and then capitalize on that information. You can use Google's Keyword Tool, or Yahoo's Keyword Assistant, to find the words and phrases that your customers are using in their search query. You then add these words and phrases to the meta descriptions about your site and to the various text pages on your site.

Adding these descriptions to your site and text pages is referred to as On-Page SEO. You perform this activity so that your site and content is optimized for the Search Engines. The words and phrases that your customers are using to find you are added to the titles, descriptions, and text pages. This helps a Google search query to easily find you, serve up your site, and improve the ranking of where your content is displayed on the pages of search results.

Effective analysis to determine keywords and effective usage of identified keywords enable you to have many page 1 listings on the relevant pages of search results.

In order to help you, I will continue to post (on this blog site) tips and techniques I have obtained and learned from My Go-To-Market Partners as I became a Digital Entrepreneur and built aspenIbiz, my online business, along with my various Web 2.0 properties and affiliate web sites. Together, these tips will provide a traffic formula that will improve your ranking and drive qualified leads to your web site.

Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? - After re-reading through the posts in this thread it seems to me like there might be a little confusion as to what Page Rank (PR) really is. For those who don't know... PR is a number between 1 and 10 that Google assigns to a web page based on it's importance. With 10 being the highest and most important. It's mainly determined by the number and quality of inbound links to the web page but there are other factors as well. It is NOT the ranking your site has in the Google search engine or any other search engine. If you are ranked #3 on google for "home business" that does not mean you have a PR of 3. They are completely separate things. Furthermore, PR does not determine how high a site ranks in the search engines. It's possible and very common for a site with a low PR to outrank and site with a higher PR for the same keyword phrase. If you want to raise your PR then you need more backlinks. Higher PR backlinks will pass more link juice to you and help raise it much easier. On that same note, if you want to increase your search engine rankings for a particular keyword then you also need more backlinks with the keyword you are targeting as the anchor text. When it comes to that, Page Rank and Search Engine Ranking Positions are very similar but that is it. People often think that they need high PR to get good search engine rankings and it is not true. They also tend to think that just because a site has high PR then it is better than a site with lower PR, that is also not always the case. One final thing about this is that the PR you see on your Google Toolbar for a web page only updates a few times per year and is not necessarily the actual PR for that page. The actual PR is stored at Google and is updated constanty, and is not shown to the public. Only they know what it really is. I hope that clears up some common misconceptions about Google Page Rank (PR).

Page Rank Changes Page Rank Changes - Hi Kevin - there is a lot of speculation as to why so many websites lost Page Rank. A few new sites that I've been following also got Page Rank for the first time. Every time Google does a Page Rank update there are websites that get caught in the crossfire and have to work to get their rankings back up!
SEO Marketing tips for Promoting your Business on Bing SEO Marketing tips for Promoting your Business on Bing - Bing is gaining popularity and within a short period of time this search engine has surpassed Yahoo and almost giving tough competition to Google. There are more users logging into Bing every single day. Some of the cool things about Bing is that it is QUICK and has a better USER INTERFACE. However, there is a significant different in the way Google and Bing rank websites. If you are planning to optimize your website for Bing then you need to consider these following tips. 1. Domain Age – Bing gives preference to your domain’s age. Google on the other also gives preference to domains which are old. 2.On-Page Optimization/Off-Page Optimization – Google gives more preference to Off-Page optimization rather than on-page optimization. Bing on the other hand gives more preference to On-Page SEO optimization rather than Off-page optimization 3.Text Density – Bing gives preference to keyword density of your content. If you are targeting a particular keyword and your keyword density for that keyword is abysmally low then you wont be able to rank too high on Bing. 4.TITLE is more important – Although Google does gives preference to keywords in TITLE, Bing entirely focuses on TITLE of any given webpage to decide whether it should be ranking at page 1 or Page 8. Therefore make sure to add your important keywords in the TITLE. Also you should abstain from artificial keyword stuffing. Several keywords are semantically considered as same. Take for example, Search engine optimization company, and SEO marketing company are semantically connected with each other. If you are ranking high for one combination, you will also rank for other combination.
