Setup a Supplemental Site to be No 1 on Google

If you have a domain name for your website that is your company's name, that may seem normal but it may not be the best business practice based on how people search for things on the Internet. If you have a firm that offers training courses to business managers, and your company name is ABC Inc, it would be natural to setup your website as abcinc dot com however this domain name is not doing you any favors in terms of attracting new customers that are not familiar with your company's name. To truly market and sell on the Internet, you need to understand how users of the web search for things and how they are likely to find you.

Here are some candidate names to consider, if you have a training firm, based on likely searches by people who are interested in training courses for business managers. These candidate names include the following:

leadership-management-training dot com ;

management-skills-training dot com ; or

business-management-training dot com .

Notice that the above examples are keyword loaded domain names. If dot com versions of the names are not available, try dot biz or dot net or dot info.

And, it would be a good business practice to buy your company domain name (in the above example it was, abcinc dot com) to protect yourself and prevent your competition from obtaining the domain name with your company name in it.

If you purchase keyword heavy domain names, do not just redirect each domain name to your main site. Be sure to setup some small, perhaps even one page, websites at each domain name with a link to your main site. Place some content on each page and if you perform your SEO techniques correctly, you will have several listings for your business on page 1 of Google's search results page; this would be your main site (the website with your company domain name) and several supplemental sites essentially wrapping around your main site.

Using the supplemental site technique will do two things. First, it will keep Google from unleashing its fury on your business as Google does not like the simple redirection option. Second, it will most likely force your competitor's site farther and farther down in the page ranking as you will have several listings for your business on page 1 of Google's search results page.

Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.

Use a variety of search tools to find out what keywords are being used and the number of people searching in any given month and day for an item that your are marketing and selling on the Internet. Would this additional traffic make a difference to your business? If it would, setup a supplemental site to capture as much search traffic as possible so it will generate No 1 page rankings for your business.

In order to help you, I will continue to post (on this blog site) tips and techniques I have obtained and learned from My Go-To-Market Partners as I became an Internet Entrepreneur and built aspenIbiz, my online business, along with my various Web 2.0 properties and affiliate web sites. How Do You Check Google Ranking? How Do You Check Google Ranking? - Now that Google is so responsive to your own search history, how can you get a good idea of what your Google ranking really is for your web pages? Whenever I check my ranking for specific keywords on Google, my web pages appear on the front page, or suspiciously high. My way around this is to check Google ranking via other computer Internet links, i.e., whenever I'm working in a library I will use a library computer to check. I check Google ranking before logging into my Gmail or other Google-related accounts. Does anybody else have any other tips for discovering your Google ranking? Nowadays, I check Bing.com for my webpage ranking as it gives a much less favourable (and so, I guess, "truer") ranking for my webpages than Google does...
