Is the stress of job insecurity causing you to reassess your priorities and examine how you can live your life differently?

Now may be the time to start a home based business.

Financial guru and best selling author David Bach believes that a recession offers a great opportunity to build wealth and create your own economic prosperity plan. What the recession has taught us is that now is the time to get excited because you can use a recession to your advantage ... plus, it is a documented fact that more millionaires were created coming out of the Great Depression in the 1930s than there were prior to the depression.

Being willing to work hard to succeed in your own business has a huge payoff.

A survey from the US Federal Reserve shows that the average household net worth for self-employed people is five times that of traditionally employed people. That means that self-employed people are five times more likely to come out of this recession unscathed because they create income in their own businesses. Being self-employed gives them flexibility and the opportunity to diversify their incomes, to generate multiple income streams, and to leverage residual income opportunities.

In a recent book, Why We Want You to Be Rich, written by luminaries Robert Kiyosaki and business mogul Donald Trump, the authors describe network marketing as a business model that generates residual income (which is money you do not directly make but money you indirectly earn from a team that you built where you receive a percentage of the team's earnings). In the corporate world, this type of business model is called a leveraged business model.

The network marketing business model creates residual income and requires a very modest investment to start and operate because it has very low overhead.

The network marketing business typically requires some specialized knowledge related to creating a lead generation system, demonstrating value, and maintaining a successful mindset. In fact, most network marketing companies provide all the tools, systems, and training needed to begin earning money in a very short period of time.

A network marketing company is not a traditional company that spends millions of dollars annually on marketing and advertising ... instead they rely on a network of associates or consultants (who are entrepreneurs that own their own home based business) to promote and spread the word, to like minded people, about the products and services of the network marketing company that they represent.

The millions of marketing and advertising dollars that are not spent by the network marketing company, with products and services for sale, is provided to the consultants as a commission that is earned when the consultant leads a prospect to buy the products and services from the network marketing company.

With the ability to generate multiple income streams and the ability to leverage residual income, many of the consultants with a home based business are not slaves to their jobs. They are able to achieve balance in their lives. They have time for their friends, families, and hobbies. A national trade group for the network marketing industry indicates that 88 percent of network marketers work fewer than 20 hours per week.

No matter what motivation anyone has, everyone is eager to earn extra money in today's environment. Plus, industry insiders say motivated people are more receptive than ever to learn about the lucrative income possible in the network marketing industry.

People are willing to break out of their comfort zone and try something new because they want more control in their lives. They want to use their committed work ethic, and pride in a job well done, to build their own bottom line. They are ripe for entrepreneurialism.

The whole situation has created a new mindset. The keys to success with this new mindset are: being a master of action, ie a self starter and able to take action every day; being a master of self education, ie able to learn from the webinars, online training, and master marketing events that are provided; and being a master of relationships, ie having the ability, with your prospects, to be able to earn trust, demonstrate value, and reducing risk associated with joining your business opportunity.

So if the recession has taught us anything, it should be that like some many others, job security is a myth. It should have also taught us that now is the time to take control of your financial destiny by building your own business.

It is still possible to make good things happen with good old-fashioned work and determination. The network marketing industry can be your vehicle for making it all happen.

My own advice is for individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses (so they create multiple income streams) is to research home based business opportunities that utilize network marketing techniques to spread the word about their products and services. I also suggest that you learn how to use the Internet to market and sell anything to anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time. By using the Internet and social media to establish an online presence, you will be able to effectively reach leads, convert them to customers, grow your business, and generate profits.

By using the Internet to market your products and drive sales, you will be using the key tactics you need to succeed in the new economy. It is clear the next Industrial Revolution is upon us and it is indeed happening online. The Internet is the new global stage for the modern symphony of commerce. Those that learn how to leverage this most powerful of platforms will be its conductors; and they will make music, and money, at the same time.

Many high profile business leaders, including the Oracle of Omaha, suggest that if you don't focus on being an online entrepreneur, being self-employed, or being a small business owner, it will be a very tough road in the months and years ahead; actually they say, it will be an uphill battle.

This suggestion is attracting current and former doctors, CEOs, and other members of the corporate workforce that are seeking a way to leave their established and lucrative careers. They are in pursuit of new opportunities in the world of Social Media and Internet Marketing so they can generate income, prestige, independence, and financial rewards that exceed the levels obtained by most in their previous careers.

The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
