What You Must Do In a Shrinking Job Market

As the economic crisis continues to take a toll on people around the world and unemployment rates steadily rise, a home-based business opportunity may be the answer to a shrinking job market.

Unfortunately, too many people today see unemployment as part of the economic cycle and they believe that when the economy recovers, employment will naturally go up.

However unemployment today is not just a macro-economic problem, it is the result of structural factors that all came together over the past decade ... just like a perfect storm. These structural factors are technology, the global economy, and the baby boomer generation ... and these factors are driving major changes.

One of the structural factors is the impact of technology, including the Internet, on productivity. With technology, it just does not take as many people, hence not as much labor, as it has in the recent past to make and deliver goods and services.

Another structural factor is the realization of a truly global economy and this means that not only do we have new markets for our goods and services we also have new suppliers of labor. If labor is less expensive somewhere else on the globe, the jobs will be outsourced to those geographic areas ... further shrinking the availability of jobs here in the USA and other more mature and established economies.

The final structural factor is the bulge in the population created by baby boomer generation. This huge bulge in the population distorts the economics of everything. This means there is an unusually large group of the population not only demanding goods and services but also jobs!

The impact of these three structural factors is driving change for all of us and out-of-the-box and creative solutions are required to solve these problems.

The real question with respect to jobs is not economic recovery but employment recovery. We have 30 million people who are now permanently unemployed generating a massive social problem. The No 1 social need in the United States right now has nothing to do with the economy ... it is retooling the out-of-work members of our society.

The key is to replace lost jobs with new earnings opportunities and provide much-needed training. The jobs that baby boomers and Gen Xers trained years ago to perform have essentially disappeared. As mentioned previously, technology has replaced millions of workers and demanded new skills that too many older workers just do not have.

Instead of focusing on new methods of training, our politicians and news media are looking at unemployment and the economic recovery as linked ... and they only have a weak link as most of the unemployed people today are skills-deficient. If they are over 50 years old, they probably do not touch computers or do not type email messages ... and that is just not acceptable in today's economy.

What happens to those displaced workers? A home-based business may provide the answer. A home-based business has always had a competitive advantage in the training it offers both in business and personal skills. It allows people to be retrained while they pursue something new. It gives people an opportunity when no one else will.

The biggest need in every sector of the economy is intellectual distribution - the dissemination of information about products and services. We have a huge backlog of better products and service that people are not buying because people do not know about them. A home-based business that reaches out directly to the target market of consumers for the backlog of better products and services ... is the most efficient method of providing solutions to people who desire and need the new products and services. This method of distributing intellectual information about the new products and services will not only improve your life but also improve your pocketbook by providing you commissions based on the success of your efforts. You will also be helping those who did not know about, but do indeed need, the better products and services.

A home-based business opportunity offers people the skills and tools to create new income opportunities. It empowers displaced workers to venture out on their own as entrepreneurs and grow in confidence versus being consumed by the fear associated with a shrinking job market. Technology is available to everyone at home and it is even better that what you can get in a large company.

The best tools and support needed to run a home-based business are now available to individuals at an affordable cost. This makes a home-based business opportunity, that provides and distributes intellectual information to people who are in the target market for, and need, the huge backlog of better products and services ... very appealing.

Many high profile business leaders, including the Oracle of Omaha, suggest that if you don't focus on being an online entrepreneur, being self-employed, or being a small business owner, it will be a very tough road in the months and years ahead; actually they say, it will be an uphill battle.

This suggestion is attracting current and former doctors, CEOs, and other members of the corporate workforce that are seeking a way to leave their established and lucrative careers. They are in pursuit of new opportunities in the world of Social Media and Internet Marketing so they can generate income, prestige, independence, and financial rewards that exceed the levels obtained by most in their previous careers.

This blog, and related posts, will continue to provide a blueprint for making money online with Internet Marketing. You will find step-by-step road maps for various parts of the Internet Marketing business. You will find material that provides an entrepreneurial game plan generating a new approach to work, family, and lifestyle. You will find tools, education, training, and support. And you will find a community of like minded entrepreneurs that are using the Internet to get out of debt, build wealth, and secure their financial future forever.

Finally, a great book to read is The Next Millionaires by Paul Zane Pilzer as it was the source of some of the material contained in this blog post.

Re: Making Money in 2010 - What's Next? - Hi GT, Shrinking size of notebook computers + the wordprocessing functions of iphone + the bookreading/video features... The real difficulty is getting the size right, or designing a single product that has a big enough screen and keypad to work comfortably with, but small enough to hold to your ear without looking ridiculous, and light enough to slip into your pocket or bag.
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - ignore this message IF it's already been stated. I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
